  • Story of the punk bar bartender and nazis

    based on @iamragesparkle;s tweets

I was at a shitty crustpunk bar once getting an after-work beer. One of those shitholes where the bartenders clearly hate you. So the bartender and I were ignoring one another when someone sits next to me and he immediately says, “no. get out.”

And the dude next to me says, “hey i’m not doing anything, i’m a paying customer.” and the bartender reaches under the counter for a bat or something and says, “out. now.” and the dude leaves, kind of yelling. And he was dressed in a punk uniform, I noticed

Anyway, I asked what that was about and the bartender was like, “you didn’t see his vest but it was all nazi shit. Iron crosses and stuff. You get to recognize them.”

And i was like, ohok and he continues.

"you have to nip it in the bud immediately. These guys come in and it’s always a nice, polite one. And you serve them because you don’t want to cause a scene. And then they become a regular and after awhile they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too.

And then THEY bring friends and the friends bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh shit, this is a Nazi bar now. And it’s too late because they’re entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down.

And i was like, ‘oh damn.’ and he said “yeah, you have to ignore their reasonable arguments because their end goal is to be terrible, awful people.”

And then he went back to ignoring me. But I haven’t forgotten that at all.

  • Won’t matter much in a democracy, but in a dictatorship or atcracy it means life & death.

In India, people have been imprisoned for posts & tweets for calling out Hindu supremacist Modi govt’s anti-democratic policies & communal acts, Some of them have been violently assaulted in their homes by Hindu supremacist thugs for their posts and tweets because the dictatorial govt has stooges in both Meta & Twitter who access the ip address which is tracked down by the state.

  • It’s not bullying, because it calls out racist bullying by the privileged, the karen/ ken meme is POCs choosing satire as a way of reacting to class-based and racially charged hostility.

Did you not read the meme or even the quick excerpt I copy-pasted? Here’s the shorter version.

In 2020, the term was broadly applied to a swath of white women who had been filmed harassing people of color, including dialing the emergency services on them for no criminal reason.

If you refuse to get it, then I can’t help you.

  • The karen/ ken meme and term became popular as a way for people of colour, particularly black Americans, to satirise the class-based and racially charged hostility they often face.

They protested against racist and privileged bullying that threatened them with police action, their kids with jail, and low-wage service people with losing their jobs, by poking fun at the bullies and publicly calling out the bullying behaviour. POC victims of bullying didn’t threaten their bullies or become violent towards them or wave a gun in their faces, but just publicly calling their bullies karen/ken is too much for the karens/ kens and their enablers to handle.

People who say calling out bullies is bullying are not against bullying, they’re pro-bullying and are against consequences to bullying.

ps : remember to wipe front to back .

  • the karen meme and term became popular as a way for people of colour, particularly black Americans, to satirise the class-based and racially charged hostility they often face.

Let’s see how this will be spun to show poc victims of racial and class hostility as racist and hostile to racist bullies.

People who say calling out bullies is bullying are not against bullying, they’re pro-bullying and are against consequences to bullying ,

In this case, by their racist and privileged bullying karens threaten people with police, kids with jail, and low-wage service people with losing their jobs, but just publicly calling them karen is too much for the karens and their enablers to handle? This is some z-grade horse manure.

  • “If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.”
    ― Lyndon B. Johnson

Both religion and capitalism ensure white conservatives always have someone to look down on and they in return lends them their loud voice & violence.

ETA : Religion + capitalism’s symbiotic behaviour is not restricted to white conservatives. They have the same relationship with every ethnic & religious majoritarian conservative. India has been experiencing it since 2014 where Hindu supremacists support big corporates even when the corporates have created enormous inflation. In return these corporates control mainstream media and fund Hindu supremacist leaders who paint targets on the back of minority religions (currently, Muslims & Christians).

  • fediverse is made of fragmented communities, each having different levels of community reach and engagement. I post news of the ethnic & communal genocide going on in Manipur, India and knowing that the government led by Hindu supremacist Modi only pays attention to internatonal pressure, cross-post to international news communities. There are 3 such (that I know of) and each has a diferet audience.

It is not for post count nor user recognition nor boosts (none of which are of any value IRL), it is to gather global attention to a barbaric genocide currently taking place in a country recignised by the world as being democratic and whose leader is welcomed and feted by world leaders. Today is the 83rd day of this ethnic & communal genocide, and only the EU Parliament has stepped up to condemn it. You might have seen the news of the 2 womeanded over by cops to themob, to be stripped naked, paraded, molested, and gangraped? It is but one of the 100 such happening, in the words of the state’s rotten Chief Minister who is considered by many as an active supporter of the genocide.

I crossspost so every time any country or world leader welcomes him, the citizens of that nation know who their nation welcomes & honours. My effort is only a drop in the ocean and probably worth nothing, but it is essential for the victims that the crimes committed against them are not hidden.
