Parking garages costs a lot more than surface parking. And the amount of traffic which can leave is limited by the surrounding roads, not by the exits.
Edit: I’m not saying this is a good thing. I’m saying it’s the reasoning of the people who build stadiums.
Expected work hours seem to be increasing everywhere over the last twenty years or so. It’s gotten pretty nuts.
When I lived in Switzerland I literally used a bike to haul furniture (flat packed). Honestly it’s easier than you might imagine.
I brought a big tv home on my bike too. It’s quite achievable, if awkward.

And then there’s the sad story of Melbourne’s Waverley Park, a large stadium which they built in an area with no decent public transport. What happens when you build Melbourne’s largest stadium with >100,000 capacity, and also a large but inadequate 25,000 car spots and no usable public transport?
It was never filled since they simply couldn’t get enough people to it. Also even then it apparently took hours just to get out of the parking lot after a game. It ended up failing as a stadium and being converted into housing years later.

And yet it's the auto industry lobby who's trotting this line out because they're not really ready for EVs and this is a good delaying tactic for them.
It's almost like people are incapable of comprehending that all types of pollution are important, not just one or the other. Exhaust emissions are bad. Tyre pollution is also bad. Reducing one is a good step. Reducing both would be even better.

But since smart locks generally also have a traditional mechanical mechanism for backup, aren’t they inherently always less secure than a traditional lock since you can find the weakest link in either of the two mechanisms?

I’m Australian and the one that really gets me is when Americans refer to indigenous Australians as “African American” because of their skin colour. They’re in no way from Africa or America, but nice job appropriating our native people.
I agree 100%. Public transport is the only sensible approach to getting people to stadiums. If it were my choice I wouldn’t provide parking at the venue at all.
