I’ve gotten ads for things I’ve just thought about. Never said anything out loud about or did any searches related to. It was something in a video I’ve watched dozens of videos about in the past. But on this occasion, I happened to think that I kind of want one for the first time. And I just so happened to start getting ads for them right after, also for the first time. They know way more about you than you think and don’t need to listen to you.

I’m not sure I see poor performance by volunteer moderators on a service tangential at best to the development of open source server software as a moral issue with that software in any way. But as you said, you’re free to disagree.

If your only issue is with the official server, why would you not just use matrix but join a different server?

You can get usable performance on a CPU with good memory bandwidth. Apple studios are the best way to get that right now, but a good Epyc with 256GB of RAM works too.

You could check out electric unicycles. The specs on high end ones are getting pretty crazy these days. 50mph easily with ranges around 100 miles. The Veteran Sherman S is a good choice for long range street cruising. The Begode EX30 is another big, heavy, extremely fast long range wheel.

I get the impression they can look at and choose whether or not to take a delivery before accepting it. If you have in there that you absolutely need it delivered to your door, you’re a lot more likely to get someone who knows and is ok with that. That should lead to more no questions asked deliveries for you at basically no cost. Rage against what should and should not be all you want, but it’s not going to change your experience if you don’t do anything different.

Putting that explicitly in the delivery instructions might help them have a better idea what they’re getting into and what to expect

If you’re concerned about quality, re-encoding from a lossy format to another lossy format is always going to lose more quality. Even if the format you choose would have been better quality if it was encoded directly from the source, the result is almost certainly going to look worse than what you have now.
