Also a lot of us users are older and this isn’t our first social media company failing us.
I got to show my niece and nephew the diet coke and mentos thing. It has become a core memory for the 3 of us and was one of my top 10 funnest days of my life. Sharing knowledge is fun.
Ask them. “You sound angry/sad/frustrated” are you just wanting to vent? Because I can relate to that feeling and I’m all ears."
I did not know that.
I have over 350k karma on reddit. They are magic internet points worth exactly nothing, we don’t need that here. Though I wouldn’t mind being able to award people if they say something super cool. Maybe an award a day or a week to give away might be fun. They’re still worth nothing, but sometimes a post deserves a little bit more than just an upvote and a little internet sticker on the post is just the thing.
They’re still arguing over it in the starving nations too, who you sleep with and how you present as your gender is usually a bigger issue in starving nations with gender roles and presentation being very severely enforced. The “hungriest” countries are Yemen, Somalia, South Sudan and Syria, all countries where being gay will get you jailed or killed. Also at last count only 10% of the world’s population is affected by hunger and The World Food Program estimates that 345 million people will be food insecure in 2023. Again these figures have increased since 2020 and it sucks and is not a good thing that anyone is hungry, but it is no where near 50%. Now you know.
No, because you don’t run out in public and start insulting random passing strangers without repercussions well you don’t do it and not expect repercussions unless you are mentally ill. So why should you be able to do it in public here, just because it’s online. If you want to say hateful things in RL you have to find like minded hateful people to say them with why should being online be any different?
Top 6 Hours seems to change the most for me so that’s the one I use, I only check out Lemmy a couple of times a day with my morning and afternoon coffees. Active when I want to deep dive into comments. and if I was here all the time then new would be my sort preference.
