whereisk@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What techniques do bad faith users use online to overwhelm other users in online discussion and arguments?11·2 months agoA fallacy matters if it’s central to proving the argument, otherwise it probably doesn’t. Eg Bringing up an anecdote, or a subjective experience as a way of illustrating a point could be said to be fallacious, but is not, if the argument is well supported enough that would stand without it.
I just had an argument where I ended my point with the words “this is a pure could have been:” and added a very likely scenario that may well could have come to pass it some events were different. Obviously it was speculation and not central to the previous argument, but in my estimation likely.
Then other person instead of responding to actual points took the last part and accused me of should’a, would’a, could’a.
Dude, yes! But not the point, also I was the one that pointed it out. The type of person that would explain to a comedian their own joke.

The gameplay itself is rather shallow, the puzzles rather meh, the story is ok - but if you want to be lost in a magical version of Edinburgh and Scottish castles, it will do that impressively.
The environment in the game is mind blowing.
Just insanely carefully and lovingly built, it’s clearly a work of passion for many artists who grew up with the books who I think must be very far away from jkr and her hate-spouting just by all kinds of small details and choices in the game.
Requires a gutsy pc.

I have Forgejo but I need a simple way of running automation.English8·3 months agoI’ve tried it with forgejo, the recommended implementation involves spinning a temporary vm to run the integration and deployment processes, quite resource heavy and slow comparatively to the vm I have that’s running forgejo.
I think there’s an option to have the forgejo server itself run the commands without spinning up vms, but it’s not recommended due to security considerations as they’re running with the same privileges as the server - not a concern if you are the only developer connecting to a private instance of forgejo but something to keep in mind.
I’d keep hitting the right arrow, instead of numpad 0.

The separation and co-equal branches of the 3 arms of government is bedrock. The government and bureaucracy can be huge or tiny without relevance to this.
I understand the appeal of being unshackled by other people’s opinions and interests.
I just don’t know how they reconcile their notional “conservatism” (they is conserving the traditions) with dismantling the actual tradition.
whereisk@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do the Republicans feel about Project 2025 now?221·4 months ago“Government should be run like a business” sounds like a totalitarian religion.
So basically the opposite of what the founding fathers wanted with separation of powers and checks and balances, right?
I thought these people were cosplaying traditionalists.

You can get a whole computer with a disk, 16gb ram a cooler, a case, and a power supply for not much more.
Edit: lol at the downvotes. Look for mini pcs on amazon. Dreamquest 16gb can be had for roughly usd$170. Let alone going on eBay and getting something second hand.
Edit 2: here’s a USD$114 computer with 12gb of ram from Ali express
I don’t mind Ubuntu server, though you’re right you need to clean it up a bit by uninstalling snap and killing the login ad of managed k8s, the LTS versions have been quite consistently easy to deal with and stable, but then again so has Debian.
whereisk@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Would you buy "self-hosted in a box" hardware?English1·10 months agoI think a possibility is a series of open source anvil or nixos scripts that you can run on most hardware with minimal changes, in an extendable architecture of some kind to add or remove functionality and they perhaps get maintained by the community or some structure of the kind of Linux distributions.
This could enable people with minimal skills set up and maintain a reasonably useful but secure environment just by changing a few variables.

If the package doesn’t have a tablespoon of peanut oil or so pooling at the top when you first open it, that you then need to mix it in, it’s hydrogenated.
