but if I am using Lemmy and someone says follow me on the fediverse, I have to say I can’t because there isn’t that ability. I think that’s one of the main differences that the word Threadiverse differentiates
Thanks for the context context!
Wow that is a badly written sentence! I think you get my point tho
My point is that there is never a hard line between any other parts of the fediverse so if there is a new feature or way one part does something it will always have an effect on the other parts.
everything is weaved together! What happenes when a mastodon account responds to a piefed account and then that gets shared by a Friendica account etc.
Sometimes you see a post on your home instance and it looks like it has no replies but then you go look at it on the remote view and there are lots of replies. Backfilling is like making sure if you see a post it has all the comments
I agree that ‘link aggregator’ is a horrible term that is only relevant to nerds and shouldn’t be used in any general user facing way as a description. I think this is the sort of thing that is really a collective failure of the fediverse and open source / free culture projects in general is how out of reach all of our lingo is to anyone not already in the in-group.
This is so so cool. Also the first time I have seen Lemmy comments directly on a blog.
This article has been a source of so much frustration over the years. I honestly think it should be scrapped and entirely rewritten.
