Yeah, I can tell why this is from adhddd.com, it’s all about assertiveness. People with ADHD in general (including myself, to an extent) have trouble with being assertive, so most of the phrases in this chart try to change a meek or mild-mannered response to a more assertive one. I think part of the struggle of life is finding balance because while some of these are generally improvements, others are generally worse, and the difference will depend on the tone you’re going for and the person that you’re sending the email.
In most cases the creator doesn’t hold the IP anymore, they signed it over to the platform. I don’t think it’s cool to pirate indy games when you can afford them because in that case the money is genuinely being withheld from the content creator, but in a lot of cases depriving Amazon of $5 for a TV show isn’t going to impact anyone.
Agreed. I’m under no delusions, when I pirate media I’m stealing. I personally don’t believe it’s immoral to steal from super corporations, especially considering how much they steal from us, but some people disagree and with these types of moral arguments there isn’t a clear right answer. Even still, I think the majority of pirates are willing to pay for software or media when the service is priced well and more convenient than piracy.
Right now all reviews are private feedback because the app is early access, but once the app doe its first full release version that will change.
As a note though, wefwef is FOSS. It’s GitHub page is linked in the web app and there are instructions to host a version of it yourself, if you so desire.
Absolutely. I’m glad that we’re cultivating such a great community so far, hopefully it will only continue to grow and improve as time goes on.
Block them individually. There’s no way currently to block an instance as a user.
Because the goal was to ban third party apps and they don’t want people trying to dodge it. u/spez seems to be personally offended by their existence and wants them gone.
That’s a shame. I hope it causes more services to be cool with their IP addresses, but it’s unfortunate for toerrenting and running local forwarded servers.
Apparently the reason for that is because malicious actors were port forwarding using Mullvad. They’re now disabling that feature, so it’s possible they will be whitelisted again in the future.
Indeed, apparently there are some American-based VPN companies that piggyback off their servers, so I figured why not use the service directly. Their apps are also full of features, so I really think the €5 a month price is worth it.
Yeah, I think this is done to provide the illusion of choice. The rate limits are high enough to allow personal emails through, but for any mass emails or corporate emails this forces you to use Google. Unfortunately a standard corporate strategy, it’s why corporate office suites are so generic and tend to be from one of the big companies.
I use Mullvad. They have you buy time upfront at a fixed price, have lots of payment options, and at one point were subpoenaed and proved to the Swedish government they don’t store any user data and therefore have nothing to turn over. They have a nice app too, I like them.
Ah yes, I’m sure mass firing mods and replacing them with random assholes will be very good for the Reddit community.
Honestly, we’re a minority of users and if we just left the only thing Reddit would notice is that posts were lower quality, and it’s possible they wouldn’t notice that at all. Going out loudly draws publicity to Reddit alternatives, and I think that harms them more in the long term.
I’ve been feeling the same way. It’s why I’ve been much more active in comment chains and why I’ve replied to a lot more posts, though I still have a bit of trouble with actually posting.
Yeah. Honestly, with that problem I think a random sort would have helped significantly, and the nice thing about Lemmy is that since it is open-source, if I have the time I can contribute that to the codebase.
I occasionally go back to check on the chaos, but I am enjoying Lemmy a lot more. The older people at my workplace and my friends/family are beginning to echo the sentiment that Reddit killed itself, and that opinion spreading among average people is a sign that Reddit’s days are numbered.
Um, I think someone may have hit you upside the head because it’s obvious and clear that my way is the best.
