Well I am planning to build a rocket and go to the moon but alas the hardware is still a couple years out :( no fear, it will be soon though!
Just install blender from the discover app on the steam desktop, add it to steam as a non-steam game and you can launch it as you would any other game.
As for controls I prefer joysticks + gyro, but that is just me.
Yeah it is actually pretty amazing how good performance dayz gets on the deck, even on deathmatch servers with 25+ players in a small area it runs great.
The gunplay is superb especially with some of the more common weapon mods.
Not sure why arma 3 runs so much worse in comparison, the difference is massive.
Honestly mostly been learning blender, I am sure sure nobody ever intended blender to be used on a handheld gaming system but that is the beauty of the steam deck right?
Also been playing some everdell.
Coincidentally I had just downloaded Apex to start playing with a friend :(
I’m sorry I am not trying to dispute the spirit of your respose but I have to disagree, freight trains are thousands of feet long and haul unbelievably large quantities of material, the idea that it is inefficient to have a human (really a pair of humans) oversee and be responsible for a machine that large is laughable honestly.
…so is the idea that there is a genuine shortage of people willing to work as conductors, it is a convenient lie companies tell to rationalize why nobody wants to work for them because they pay shit and respect their employees so little that they won’t even give them unpaid time for necessary doctors appointments (see recent action of US train workers).
This point is even more true for passenger trains.
It is a massive responsibility we can afford to pay two humans to do it, a certain micro amount of inefficiency is ok.
I don’t have an opinion either way on this but can we not act like corporate for profit social networks haven’t thunderously dropped the ball on this kind of thing lol
Why do we need to get rid of the job of human radio presenter?
Techbros keep telling me AI frees people up to stop working shitty jobs and pursue their dreams, but the truth is none of these tech evangelists give a shit about anyone’s dreams if they aren’t some lame vision of factorio where the factories pollute the planet churning out ripoffs of human culture.
In the US and other post industrialized nations where land is more valuable for other uses than agriculture, sure.
However the deforestation in the amazon probably eats most of that up.
Cutting trees down for wood isn’t the worst of it though, the first half of the 21st century will be categorized by climate change scientists as the period where earth’s boreal forests burned away.
The amount of boreal foresl acreage burned in the last two decades is staggering and is accelerating to put it mildly.
now that you mention it though wow an arcade read dead with a light gun and paddle for cover that replayed intense missions from the game would probably work really good actually…
It isn’t that the gunplay is slow and clunky, I like all kinds of shooters from operation harsh doorstep to xonotic to cod mobile to easy red 2… I like shooters pretty much however they come, but I would barely quantify red dead as a shooter.
To say the gunplay is weak, shallow and poorly integrated with level design is an understatement and I think is a shame because otherwise red dead 1 and 2 are phenomenal games.
meh I could never get past the fact that the red dead games just have shit gunplay in my opinion, it is kind of shocking how little rockstar seems to care about putting fun rewarding gunplay into their games.
I dont mean to be annoying if this has been suggested to you but try adding gyro.
Also thumbstick grips that raise the stick height can help massively depending on your hand shape.
The thing about zomboid is…it just makes me want to play cataclysm dark days ahead with the sky island mod and I get itchy without that brilliant anarchism and freedom cataclysm brings to the entire experience.
Zomboid will get there, and it isnt bad by any means.
7 days to die also runs great on the deck (tho it is 3d fps/tps) and has quite a few good modpacks that use it as a base, easy to underappreciate the game because development has been all over the place.
Another game to think about, dayz (modded and vanilla) actually runs decent on the deck.
Why not play Fight The Landlord tho
hell yeah blender is awesome
honestly I prefer games have really good hearing accessibility options and UI so I can mute the game and play while I listen to an audiobook with my partner… and then my shure aonic 50 bt/wired headphones, third favorite being sony xm3/xm4 (and newer versions) bt/wired headphones.
the dark wizards have no shame in twisting their magic into hideous forbidden forms!
breathlessly storms out the door with pitchfork in hand
chaaaaaarge!
Fragmentation is a concern but it isn’t the real issue, the issue is corporate capture of the commons as far as I am concerned.
Main Assembly’s (in game accessible) workshop has some seriously good stuff, like someone modeled a realistic, working Nissan gtr skyline!
The build is set up with race track rock hard suspension, but it feels really fun to drive and you can absolutely powerslide and oversteer like you would expect.

This Rock Crawler is a surprisingly faithful recreation of a real life rock crawler and honestly I would believe I was playing an offroading sand crawler game if you just had me drive it with no context what game I was playing.

This rally racing/small trophytruck-like vehicle doesn’t have a skin/aesthetic panels but the handling and suspension is butterrry and the workshop description indicates it has autopilot and different modes. Amazing stuff!
