I call the corpse of John Smith to the stand.
Mr Smith, where were you on the night of October the fourth?

This kind of seems like a non-article to me. LLMs are trained on the corpus of written text that exists out in the world, which are overwhelmingly standard English. American dialects effectively only exist while spoken, be it a regional or city dialect, the black or chicano dialect, etc. So how would LLMs learn them? Seems like not a bias by AI models themselves, rather a reflection of the source material.
Remember, if you want to receive today’s ration of insect mush, you have to post on X with your daily Elon-positive affirmations!
What if I told you, you can pay money for spyware
So that basically means that Firefox and Safari are the only two unaffected, since it seems like everything else is Chromium these days. Yikes.
I say this as a Swift developer (and Obj-C before that), who’s built apps on Apple platforms for 20 years. I love the language and I love developing for Mac and iOS. But why would you reach for Swift for a cross platform browser? The support on Windows and Android is in its infancy, and it’s not a widely known or used language in the context of system programming. I’d never write a mobile app in any other language, but I’d never write a browser engine in this one.
That’s not how it works man, you can’t poison just part of a tree. And it would be pretty suspicious if a healthy tree with no signs of drought or disease just dies.
Anybody got that Steve Huffman pig boy meme handy?
Yea, I was a manager at multiple jobs and wasn’t allowed to give interview feedback for this reason, they were afraid anything I said would be fuel for a wrongful rejection lawsuit.
I mean, can you elaborate, or at least link something?
I pay 15€ a month in Portugal for unlimited data, sms, calls etc and it even includes roaming in the rest of Europe 😊
Found the Romanian! 😁
Forking a repo is not the same as developing it. Any idiot can rehost the existing source code, but all the developers with knowledge of the code base and project just got axed by Nintendo.
I mean, this is basically malicious compliance. They did everything in their power to follow the letter but eschew the spirit of the law. Let’s hope the EU has teeth and keeps applying pressure.
I mean, I’ll take a stab at speaking for Apple fans, and in fact developers. (I’m an ex-employee.)
There are a lot of things we like about the user experience on their platforms, and we appreciate their general interest in privacy while not engaging in the dirty data mining / advertising business of Google and Microsoft. There is a polish on their platforms that is best in class.
But I don’t believe any of us actually support the App Store lockdown situation. It’s probably the biggest black mark on their record. I think they got it right on macOS, requiring the binaries to be notarised (signed digitally) in such a way that malware can be blacklisted. This is a useful security feature. But developers are free to distribute however they want and third party stores like SetApp and Steam coexist happily with the App Store.
100% of their arguments about keeping the App Store as the sole distribution chain are bullshit because macOS is the proof. It’s pure rent-seeking behaviour.
Is this talking about stuff like private torrent trackers and Usenet providers, or are there more Netflix-like things out there that people are paying for?
Slightly off topic but, did you guys find a way to actually disable downvoting on your instance, or is this a rule enforced by moderators? Asking because we’d be interested in flipping this toggle on ours, if it exists
I do understand the point you’re making actually, but you’re wading into emotionally charged waters here. I would argue “white” is an inherently racial term, but the more importantly, the correlation is not really relevant to the discussion and needlessly muddies your broader point (that climate may inspire or disincentive industrialisation) by injecting it with racial discussion.
Really glad this is the priority instead of dealing with the massive homeless crisis or the fentanyl epidemic.
