I don’t wonder. by the time I left there were more barriers to entry for humans than for bots. more newly created or newly active accounts speaking word salad than not. and the moderator help subs were alive every day with somebody asking how to deal with it.

I kind of like them just because of the context that the kid has been complaining about being single. I feel like I did that one time before I realized that people don’t give you other people to date. or if they do, that’s actually weird. but I think being told to evolve was even gentler than the language that was used to communicate to me that I needed to grow and be a person who anyone would want to be alone with (let alone date).

sad_detective_man@leminal.spaceto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: Upvotes and downvotes are public information on LemmyEnglish152·6 days agoif someone is harassing or mistreating you on the basis of your voting, then you can take it up with an amin.
this is a highly demanding solution for a misbehavior that takes very little energy to engage in. at least in my experience with admins, even when you have an effective one that doesn’t mean they will be effective in the coming months or years. ultimately a lot of people will end up having to explain somebody else’s bad behavior to another who just might not care.
but never mind that. what I’ve actually got to wonder is what does having votes public even accomplish positively? is the goal to help users understand each other based on actions we made that up to this point we thought were anonymous?

autistics as well. we don’t start with the “common rules and customs” official strategy guidebook like everyone else did so it seems to acclimate us to doing the legwork of overanalyzing everything.
sometimes I have to stop and ask myself “is this actually something I need to know or am I just scared of being punished socially not knowing it”
