a passerby who want less latency… :)
I don’t like to browse All timeline. You can search community using tools like browse feddit, Lemmyverse or others to search community. Then you can aggresively subscribe any community you fancy. After that you can never open All timeline.
There are no algorithm to give you a good community to subscribe on All timeline. It is just amalgation of all subs your instance-mate subscribe to. And given you are in .world, all kinds of people exist here, hence All timeline filled with weird things.
As long as you don’t let your instance become bot/nazi/tanky swarm, you are green…
It has potential, bu I hope it will not become like those mainstream soc-med…
Fediverse is like a village where each denizen trying to self-sufficent and helping each others while mainstream soc-med is like train station or mall where users just come and go while giving money to its owner for their services…
We may need one or two mainstream soc-med to be alive to keep up with news or to socialize with normies, but we also need a place to retreat like current fediverse.
edit:typo
At least your password hash not accessible by anyone but you… and your dm is also only accessible by your recipient and his/her admin… 😅
I think the in the current implementation, your post views is not public. But any data you have is still accessible to your instance admin.
Nothing private in fediverse except when you are selfhosting yourself.
Same here, this is first time I know…
AFAIK, no. Lemmy only shows posts from group actor a.ka community. And only shows comment from normal user as child of posts.
France is become european china at this rate… 😅
All timeline is all post from subs/community that you and your instance-mates subscribe. Each instance has different users, and different user follow different communities. Hence All timeline can be different for each instances.
You are welcome. I only know these subs because I frequent them but I think if you search deep enough and ignoring any community that has reddit in its name, you will find good content. 😁
I saw android and selfhost/selfhosted has many content unrelated to reddit there. You can check it.
They need money for their greedy venture capitalists.
I think there are benefit of killing twitter, mocking el*n and skirting europe regulation on moderation laws. But the worry is there, I hope the devs stand their ground and rejecting any doubious modification from meta on fediverse protocols.
I use firefox as my main browser on low end phone, so any complex webapps (both lemmy and reddit) is not that great. That is why I use apps, it feels more responsive when using apps.
maybe exploding-heads.com? is that site still around?
I only know that on Lemmyverse, most of conservatives happily stays on reddit given most committed progressives migrated here. Or may be they go to squabblr, its owner says they are welcomed there.
There are many though, on mastodon-verse if you like twitter-esque experience. There are enough users and instances to hold meaningful conversations.
