Option 1: Firefox (or any firefox variant like Floorp, Waterfox or LibreWolf) + uBlock Origins, if that doesn't work -
Option 2: avoid the sites, don't give them traffic, and -
Option 3: if you really need to read that article, use 12ft ladder and it will probably work.
Didn’t Texas say last year that they wanted to try being independent from the USA? I’m not from the US (anymore) so I’m not sure but I kind of remember that being said.
Isn’t this like testing the waters in some way?
Honestly, I use FF as my primary on Linux, and Waterfox as my primary on Windows (just because it runs better than FF on Windows fir some reason). Vivaldi I use as a secibdary browser when:
EDIT: I sent the reply without answering the question, I'm dumb. Anyways, some people like Vivaldi, some don't. If you ask in a Privacy forum (and especially Lemmy) you will find less favorable opinions of Vivaldi.
My suggestion at the end of the day is just try it out and try to make your own research on how it was created and who is in charge. As I've undestood until now (don't know if it has changed) is that the only thing proprietary about Vivaldi is the design(? Idk, someone correct me if I'm wrong) and that the CEO is not an.asshole (yet)
Just started using their search engine about 2 months ago, as soon as I heard the news I just dropped it.
I like the idea but if I want to send data to bing I'd use bing tbh.
They can obviously track pirated installs.
They use computational predictions and quantum mathematical calculations through a software called trust me bro.
That’s weird, I use Waterfox and I occasionally get to do some kind of “puzzle”, but other times I just need to click the reCaptcha and it will confirm itself (with the green check)
Ironically, when I use Vivaldi, the captcha doesn’t even load, and when it loads, it says it’s wrong regardless of the answer I give it, so I’m always locked and that’s quite literally the only reason I stopped using Vivaldi.
On Edge I need to fill in puzzles ALL THE TIME, that’s also why I stopped using Edge (apart from the bloatware and the uBlock not working there)
I think this is better tbh, I personally don’t like it when piracy forums/sites/whatever piracy related thing goes too mainstream. Maybe it’s gatekeeping, I don’t know, I just don’t want another Z-Library incident.
Either way, they probably aren’t even against piracy, they’re probably just lazy and don’t want to deal with any of the issues they could potentially face down the line.
Edit - grammar
Yep, every driver is up to date. In fact I just did a fresh windows install once again, updated all drivers once again, and the problem still persists.
The games however are stored in a secondary ssd, so the next thing I’m gonna do is install them on the main, and some of them on an external one, just in case it’s a faulty SSD.
If that’s not it then I have no clue.
Yeah I’m about to give up with these games as well and just not play them, I just finished a clean Windows install again and it still didn’t work, I feel like I’m going insane here haha
I’ll definitely try that tomorrow when I wake up, I just did a fresh install of Windows 11 and it still won’t work, thanks for that recommendation, I have an external ssd so maybe it’ll work like that.
Definitely something wrong with my OS and I’m currently making yet another clean install, because the weird thing is that I’ve played all these games before (except BG3) on the same laptop, I was just replaying them for fun.
I just wanted to see if there was someone else with the same issues or something similar.
Specs are fine
AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3050Ti, and 32GB RAM, it’s a Legion 5 (2021)
All games mentioned run 100fps+ on High and I was watching the graphs, temperatures of 60-80C on the CPU and 50-75C on the GPU so those were fine (at least for a laptop)
What you’re saying makes a lot of sense, but, the weird thing is that, except for Baldur’s Gate 3, I already played all these games in my laptop before. I was just replaying them for fun, I just didn’t know if somebody else had the same issues.
I think I’ll just make another clean install and see what happens, this situation has me so confused tbh haha
I use Internet Download Manager and it has worked like a charm for me. It’s paid, but you can find the pirated version easily!
I tried JDownloader but it didn’t work for me, I’m kind of dumb though so it might have been my fault that it didn’t work in my browser/computer.
Edit: wanted to add that for torrents I’ve been using Qbittorrent, imo it’s the best
You lose it and never hear from it again. Happened to me, had to open another account in another instance because of that, it’s a shame but I guess that’s the risk until we get something that is some kind of Backup->Restore->Move account or something.
You can find it on Rutracker, that’s shere I got it from, it’s not the latest latest, but I have the v2.0.0
After reading this post I was looking on rutracker to see if they uploaded a newer version, but the website seems to be down for me at the moment.
My mother is like this as well, when I was little she used to only say “come here!”, and if I wasn’t showing up right next to her she wouldn’t say what she wanted to say, she would just stay silent. Sometimes it was only to let me know it was someone’s birthday.
She even says it unconsciously now. She lives in Venezuela, I live in Brazil now, and during calls she still says “come here” and every time I tell her “Now how am I gonna go there right now? Are you paying for the plane tickets?”
It’s not just you, you’re not mental, it’s fucking frustrating and at some point in my life I just decided not to react to her “come here” and keep quiet until she tells me what she wants, otherwise I’m not interested.

You know how women (and some doctors) had problems in the US because the states were getting information on whether they had, were thinking of having, or were having conversations about having an abortion?
You know how there was a possibility (or maybe that really happened, I don’t remember) that the state governments could be aquiring information from women’s period tracking apps and acquiring their behavioral patterns to find out if they were planning on having an abortion?
Well, I’m not a woman, but I am disabled. After I got fired from my job because I couldn’t perform anymore thanks to my disability, (there was no discrimination, I literally could not do my job because of my disability) I applied for disability payment.
I was rejected.
After that, I tried to look for other jobs, but for some strange reason, I couldn’t find a job ANYWHERE in the US. They never called back after telling me they would do a background check on me. I applied for about 70+ companies, I got background checks on 20+.
That didn’t happen before I applied for the disability payments, and as an immigrant that was below the poverty line I wasn’t someone that could put up a fight… Against whom? The companies? The government? I didn’t even know if the fact that I applied for the disability payments was the problem.
At the end, I was able to find a job in a call center working from home. But it took me 8 months for that.

It’s a double edged sword, youcan make better products and a better experience for some things, but some people/companies think of other people, especially minorities, disabled, and probably women, as liabilities, and they don’t really want that.
This is why I rather have privacy, the ads are just annoying asf, but the things I said are just 2 examples of why privacy is important.
Hopefully I make sense, and sorry for any grammatical mistakes, English is not my first language.
I joined the waitlist months ago and all I heat is Bluesky is growing but I still have no news about being able to use it…
