TMobile is pretty open, but AT&T a lot less so (though still more permissive than Verizon).

Basically any capable phone will be accepted on TMob, but AT&T will refuse to allow “unsupported” devices even if they are compatible. They shut out my OnePlus 3 which was working perfectly fine with VoLTE and VoWiFi for being too old despite being on a recent Lineage build. So instead of getting a new device, I switched to T-Mobile lol.

Yeah, I think I just tried the older one “EmbyCon” and it just loads an empty repo.

“Emby for Kodo NextGen” seems to be the “new” one and is currently syncing my library on my test box.

How old is that add-on and howe well does it work? I was exploring Kodi at one point in the past (never got past planning stage) and was looking to see if there was a plugin to integrate Emby but couldn’t find one (there’s nothing really special about it’s streams, they just need to be requested the right way).

I may give that a try. I do like the idea of a unified interface versus a controller for the UI and a separate controller/webapp for Emby.

Yeah, I currently boot straight into OpenBox -> Firefox Fullscreen -> Emby right now, and everything’s controlled from a second Emby session on my phone. I’d keep that, but I’d also want to be able to easily navigate the “desktop” part. Someone else mentioned BigScreen, but I’ve never had a good experience with KDE in general, so I’m hesitant. May still try it out, though.

I’ve used Plasma off and on for years, and every time I just regretted it. Can’t point to one particular issue that ruined it, it was just a lot of little annoyances over a long period of time (mostly with multi-monitor setup and the panels glitching out all the time). So “BugScreen” sounds about right, lol.

That said, this would be more of an “appliance” configuration so I may give it a shot and keep Kodi as a fallback.

My current setup only really runs Emby and Snapcast, so I haven’t had to deal with any kind of launcher. It just boots into Openbox, launches FF full screen, and loads Emby. I’m aiming to add some new features to the new build since it’s more capable than the old Core2 Duo laptop I dug out of the basement lol.

There might be some savings to be had by enabling compression, though it would depend on what format the images are in to start with. If they’re already in a compressed format, it would probably just be a waste of CPU to try compressing them further at the filesystem level.

Not sure if a de-duplicating filesystem would help with that or not. Depends, I guess, on if there are similarities between the similar images at the block level.

Maybe try setting up a small, test ZFS pool, enabling de-dup, adding some similar images, and then checking the de-dupe rate? If that works, then you can plan a more permanent ZFS (or other filesystem that supports de-duplication) setup to hold your images.

My first instinct was to say yes, but then I remembered the bong sound isn’t really modulated in the song. So it’s more like a sound effect like police sirens.

Funny enough, I do consider a basketball a percussion instrument since it is bounced to a beat in some songs (I’m showing my 90s kid age here lol).

In addition, they need training data. Both conversations and raw material. Shoving “AI” into everything whether you want it or not gives them the real world conversational data to train on. If you feed it any documents, etc it’s also sucking that up for the raw data to train on.

Ultimately the best we can do is ignore it and refuse to use it or feed it garbage data so it chokes on its own excrement.

Tesseract lets you browse the communities on remote instance. AFAIK, that’s one of few Lemmy frontends that offer that feature. Wish some other frontends would steal that feature from me.

Since the requests it uses to fetch communities from the remote instances are unauthenticated, it won’t show you any that are marked NSFW.
