If you visit the grapheneos forum, it is generally not a preferable choice, for security reasons.

piracysails@lemm.eeto DeGoogle Yourself@lemmy.ml•Alternative to Google Maps location sharing / Apple FindMy1·4 months agoI too was trying to find alternatives to these services but I could not.
I saw a github “thread” ones for organic maps, but it did not get traction… They could make it a paid service as that are trusted by the community to handle that data.
There was a new application, I do not remember the name of it… But it was using google play services which I did not add to my OS.
I found the app through howtomen’s YouTube channel, let me know if you need it, I will search for it.
Edit: If you have the skills, you could setup/self-host owntracks, which I could not do, securely.
I gave their github issues a look and I did not find anything similar to this…
The repo is the correct one. I have no useful advice unfortunately. Either reinstall, use signal or wait for someone who can be more useful.
Is your pixel up to date? Could you please provide the fdroid repo you have added to your fdroid client?
Try enabling “exploit protection comparability mode” on the system app settings.
I do not think this is it though.
If you do not set a passphrase, does it work as expected?

Why would suggest a jump from Ubuntu to qubes?
IIRC the flapak packaging system is completely open source while snap does not release the server code.
Also, snaps were forced to the users, had terrible performance at the start, thus, making them unpopular.
And fire a few employees just cause.

Proton VPN and proton pass
IRRC they even removed all telemetry from pass but not VPN.
They should definitely push drive and calendar there too.

I have had the same issue. For me the last few weeks I keep changing VPN servers due to them being blocked.
Imagine having to explain to a casual user, SO, sibling or parent that you, while fighting to preserve your anonymity, google blocked the house. xD
FYI, grapheneos primary aim is security and not offering a degoogled os. The community generally even prefers installing applications through google play, which someone may choose to install.
