Meanwhile Synology keeps updating my ageing NAS.
They may not have the best bang for the buck for hardware but their software package is really well put together.

At least it’s not quite bafflingly incompetent as their movie division.
But Sony has always been weird.
The link between conspiracies and ads is way stronger than that. The ad industry really went into high gear following WWII when the people working on pumping out propaganda to drive their own side of the war stepped up the game by applying psychology, new media, and a bigger budget.
Those people and techniques then moved to the commercial market when the war ended and applied their trade to peddle us the crap their customers wanted to sell. Make us feel bad if we don’t buy product X and go on an endless consumption treadmill to try to feel good and adequate about ourselves.
It is despicable and even worse with ads targeting children.
I only saw a YouTuber make fun of their “Christopher Columbus did nothing wrong video” (not the actual title).
Their argumentation is terribly weak.
With allies like these, who needs enemies?
That is assuming the Soviets would have handed him over. I bet Stalin would have him flown to Moscow for the biggest show trial ever. Ignoring most of his other henious crimes to focus on what he did to the Slavic people of the Soviet Union.
Followed by a bullet the head unless Stalin would have asked for some special public execution but I doubt it.
Also Bandcamp.
Amazing game, enjoy you patient gamers out there.
In Switzerland it technically is legal. Only hosting for others is illegal.
When they gobble up one bullshit conspiracy, the next ones go down easy.
I plug my wireless mouse’s dongle on my keyboard USB port. I figure it’s the USB port that sits the closest to the mouse so least chance of interference (not that it’s ever been a problem but hey).
But the server outputs code for the browser to run. Doesn’t matter what the server does as long as the browser gets there same output.
Server side they could stall based on the agent but it’s not the case here. Whatever is happening seems to be client side.
Ah, didn’t notice the two. There was a short period the subtitles on Plex had the warning the API was going to change backed into them.
And Plex’s on-demand subtitle download.
I was OK with the ads. Just a message before the dialogue and a message after the movie dialogue was over.
But paying for subs? Good luck.
No no, I can read the audience. He can get a pre-built NAS from the likes of Synology or QNAS with a nifty simplified web interface. They are very low maintenance and there are detailed, step-by-step guides to turn them into streaming monsters.
Can you get better hardware for less money? If you go the DIY route without a doubt. But sometimes you want a box with a bunch of drives to store your movies and serve them without a hassle and you can buy that.
My only complaint is Synology skimps too much on the RAM.
Unless you’re running a full network setup like Linus
I’m not sure I understand what that means but yes, a NAS is not indispensable, but it’s a great convenience. Pre-NAS that’s how I rolled until I didn’t want to have to run my full-powered gaming PC all the time.
I got that but wondered if he knew what an NAS can be. It doesn’t need to be complicated but you are right: he can just add a bunch of HDDs to his current PC and install the necessary server apps. But I doubt someone who doesn’t want to bother with an added NAS has a PC that can host a bunch of extra SATA drives.
Get a Synology NAS, put HDDs in it, easily install Torrent client and media server software, and enjoy.
A NAS is a box for HDDs, a low-powered computer to drive them, an OS, and some bits of software you choose to run on it.
That’s Secretary of Raw Milk RFK to you, buddy.
