if there is something more insidious and prolific than dandelions, its bind-weed. its a crawling, climbing vine with spade leaves and little purpleish flowers. climbs everywhere and chokes the shit out of everything it covers. the root system goes deep and wide. very hard to get rid of once it takes hold.
unfortunately for me the bind-weed and dandelions take over very quickly.

unless you inherit a large base written by someone who is bad at it where their approach seemed to be to write new bad rules in attempt to cover up previous bad rules and so on. we all know how supportive employers are at addressing technical debt. (site redesign cant come soon enough)

robots.txt will not block a bad bot, but you can use it to lure the bad bots into a “bot-trap” so you can ban them in an automated fashion.
