Can I Google myself in your office?
Can I Google myself in your office?
When I interviewed junior devs for my team, I had zero theoretical questions, and only two coding questions which were basically code that had to be debugged, and once it was running, for them to implement some minor things that I asked them to implement. I said I don’t mind if they googled, I only wanted them to share their screens while they worked, so that I can see how they worked and how they googled/adapted the answers to their code. I interviewed over a dozen people ranging from freshers to 4 yoe, and you should see how terrible they were at googling. Out of all them, only one fresher came close to being good in the interview. Even ‘4 yoe’ devs who ‘spearheaded’ various projects sucked at basic python and googling.
Disney should sue WB for their Thanos imitation
I thought you said they’re back up, and got excited for a sec.
Unfortunately no. Found it dead a day later.
Nice. So I just need to update the mesa version whenever it arrives, and it should be faster now? Also, are there any disadvantages to using amdvlk instead of mesa?
Do you get sunburns in Florida, or does the sweaty humidity prevent it?
I mean, there are dozens of rational and polite comments in this thread, and you’re choosing this one comment to ‘cement your opinion’. I’m a techie, but I don’t know if I’m one of those weird people you talk about, or just a normal person you want. I have noticed less hostility in the comments, and the hostile ones like this one stand out because the friendly ones are most prevalent. I also have been seeing more and more of the text based communities gain traction over the past week with more normal people stories, and hope they gain even more traction in the coming days.
As for Reddit, I have been occasionally visiting some of my niche communities that haven’t migrated over, but have decided not to participate in anything there. I have also noticed that the Reddit front page is now a lot similar to Lemmy, that I often can’t tell if I’m on Reddit or Lemmy. I saw a post there today about some guy playing a song on piano for 3 girls, and the top 10 comments with thousands of upvotes were all the same old Reddit tropes of panties down, floor wet, leave some pussy for us, and so on. I’m noticing them more and more because of how different the comment section on Lemmy is.
You don’t have to feel bad about staying here or visiting Reddit or doing them both at the same time. You have no obligation for either site.
If only I am capable of doing that, I would have saved a ton of money.
That looks interesting, I’ll check that out, thanks!
That’s exactly what prompted me to post here lol.
I’ll try those, thanks!
Yeah I’ve found that writing things down keeps me in the moment and prevents me from zoning out, but I can’t bring myself to write stuff down because it’s that starting trouble. Any tips on making it into a habit?
I’m a vi guy myself, but that’s a fight for a different day. I’m using Amplenote, which I think is somewhat similar to obsidian, and I like it, but like all new things I try, I used it extensively for the first week, then I’ve stopped using it that much. I like the idea of combining notes with the tasks, but it’s somewhat not as smooth to me as my brain would like.
Thanks for the suggestion. I use windscribe as a vpn. Do I use tailscale instead of windscribe, or are they two different things?
It’s been a while since I used Trello, but how is the notification system on it? Do you get notifications on the phone app? Does it have snooze?
Thanks for the advice. It looks like I already have those settings turned on. Would you recommend I turn them off? I know it’s gonna result in even fewer peers, and I haven’t had any security issues over the past couple of years while it’s been running, but is it something that needs to be done on servers like mine? (I have windscribe that I turn on along with qbittorrent, and when I turn it off, I turn them both off at the same time)
I’ve sometimes found that 1337x torrents show bigger seed leech numbers but don’t really match up when downloading (May be it’s something to do with my vpn setup). I’ve found magnetdl to be more accurate with seed leech numbers
Thank you. How does it compare to a raspberry pi, or a mini pc at home? Is the draw that it’s available 24x7 and on the internet?
How much does the other guy in the room own?
