I’ve talked personally to climatologists. My mother minored in meteorology. I’ve read the articles, I’ve watched the documentaries, I’ve seen Bill Nye.
Is this satire? It has to be satire.

Honestly I think we’re past oops and fuck and the current attitude just isn’t pictured cause it goes off the page.
Given lawmakers that understand how the internet works, I think it would be. To me this isn’t any different than a handful of years back when ISPs were throttling websites to give an advantage to the certain ones that paid them to work faster.
What other intercity passenger rail operators are there to speak of? And what does that have to do with who owns the actual rails?
We are actively being held back by companies catering exclusively to the lowest common denominator.
Also the fact that the vast majority of our remaining rails are owned by private freight companies that get to make up silly rules like passenger trains having to pull over for ridiculously long and slow freight trains to pass them.
Read the blog post. I can totally see where the writer is coming from. Vlad’s email responses are pretty laughable with that added context. Not only did they tell him they weren’t interested in engaging, but the responses he sent anyways thoroughly dodged the substance of their arguments. They did their research and came to pretty reasonable conclusions, and vlad totally talked around/failed to address the points that really matter. Kinda slimy ngl.
I can also see from the highlighted discord exchanges why they weren’t interested in engaging with him further. Sure he “responds” to everything, but he doesn’t really engage with constructive criticism. Whether or not the guy is autistic isn’t really relevant to whether he can run the business competently and make sure questions are answered in an honest and transparent manner.
If you’re just watching movies and tv I highly recommend just grabbing one of the streaming sites from the masterlist. Use a good ad blocker and you’re golden.
Yeah, obviously reactionary just means anything I personally disagree with. Duh.
Ah yeah I use a modded/patched version of the app (revanced) which is annoying to update so I’ve just been living with it lol
I’ve had this issue for a while now and it definitely has something to do with shorts, like it’s forcing vertical rendering somehow. I notice it’s something like a 50% chance that when I switch from shorts to watching normal videos that I will experience this bug. I’ve always just force stopped the app and picked whatever video I was watching back out of history. It is really annoying though.
Originally, it was being a child and not having any money of my own, and my mom getting out her wallet to enter card information on a website she had no previous knowledge of, for something she would never use personally, was a whole… thing that I can probably count on my hands the number of times it actually happened. So I stopped even asking and figured it out myself.
Edit: also, we had netflix but sometimes the shows I wanted to keep up with were still airing and I couldn’t wait.
Now, I just don’t think any company that would take my money in exchange for, generally temporary, access to media/software really deserves or needs my money all that much, and especially not more than I do. I also strongly resent that there is not a public and legal domain for things that are older than like 5 or 10 years and not actively being worked on.
I’m pretty sure that’s already a thing, at least I know GM does it and I’m fairly certain it’s for regulatory reasons.
Although imo cars are pretty loud on their own just from tires gripping pavement and air displacement.
Of course. These kinds of people would rather cable news tell them what to think than really think any of this through themselves, and cable news doesn’t care to address any of these points. And as far as they’re concerned, people like you and me aren’t as qualified as the talking head on tv to tell them otherwise.
I mean if you have a gift card then the money is already spent. Might as well get what was paid for rather than let them have the free money. Especially since she’s your wife and it will make her happy to share what is clearly a beloved part of her childhood with you.
As for your last point, remember, there is no ethical consumption under capitalism. The only way to really consume ethically is to simply consume less. If that fails and you’re spending the money anyways, might as well do what brings the best value to you and yours so you can pass the savings on to what you do value. There are worse things than fringe homophobia that your dollar may be supporting at another shop which receives less media coverage than hot button issues like the identity politics that are always in the news. Don’t know where you prefer to shop but just the act of going so far out of your way supports oil companies, for example, in a way that it wouldn’t have otherwise. If you’re in an EV, that supports exploitative lithium mining by reducing battery life (however slight) and your local corrupt power monopolies when you charge it back up.
Just my unsolicited two cents, do with it what you will. It’s cope, to be sure, but sometimes you just have to cope with what you can’t change. Give me the serenity to accept what I can’t change, the courage to change what I can and knowing the difference and all that.
Mine has a single booth iirc but I’ve never seen it used and its past the intercom so the system definitely wouldn’t work the same if it was
You can take this picture in just about any city in the US too. NYT did a pretty good piece about it, gifted so y’all can read it: Can Removing Highways Fix America’s Cities? https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/05/27/climate/us-cities-highway-removal.html?unlocked_article_code=1.60w.uuX5.Oo4CsHZXGv8Q&smid=nytcore-android-share

So you are saying this type of development is so sought after that they are able to set rent at higher rates than the surrounding "parts" and still get enough tenants despite the "inconvenience"?
Also yeah according to the article, the nearby amenities include a grocery store. It's not an apartment complex, it's a walkable town.
