I can’t remember exactly, but I seem to remember that some mushrooms required the flesh to be cut, smell information, and in some cases a chemical test was the only way to give a differential ID with 100% accuracy.

The most fun thing about the whole project was having to go for walks in the woods to complete an assignment.

25 years ago I was writing a paper on AI ethics and part of it was creating a mushroom identification program using a neural Network backed, image processing and language model. The conclusion of my paper was that it was wholly unethical to suggest that AI could correctly identify mushrooms based on descriptions and pictures alone, when the price for failure is death.

It’s not as bad as some places, for example no need for a licence/permit for trailers or bicycles. But the current government is working on scaring seniors and authoritarian rule. Luckily it’s not working and we are due for a new government next month.

Sadly I think the problem is the government don’t want to regulate. We have a right wing authoritarian government right now who need the votes from the older generation and are attempting to get it by instilling fear and presenting themselves as the protectors.

Younger people are more likely to have e-bikes and scooters, so making them illegal, exaggerating the threat and promoting initiatives like this to show what they are doing to combat the scourge of youths on silent killer bikes, they lock in the scared senior votes.

Yeah it’s legit, I signed up for local police information when I first moved here. They post missing persons and details of crimes in the area, ask for DashCam, CCTV, doorbell cams etc.

Although unless they can solve a crime in minutes that really don’t seem interested. Unless it’s someone trying to get to work on an e-bike apparently.

I think my keyboard and mouse use Bluetooth 5 and they have been rock solid.

While I use cloud for automatic phone and picture backups just because it’s built in to the OS, all manual and PC backups are to NAS via RJ45.

I suppose it depends on your needs but a NAS/external with the smallest disk you can find would take a while to pay for itself if you compare it to a 99p a month cloud storage package.

Sorry @Ziggurat but you might be the one behind the times; keyboard/mouse/headset - Bluetooth, External Hard drive/ memory stick - cloud/ WiFi, camera - WiFi/Bluetooth, Webcam is still USB.

The true connector crime here is that single USB-C, any new PC should have more than that.

Yup, at UK minimum wage 17 year olds would have to work 9 hours a week just to pay for car insurance. Then there is road tax, fuel, MOT, repairs, and buying the car in the first place.

News in UK today said car insurance for young drivers is now £3000 a year on average ($4000USD)

I did try to find ScotchGuard a few years ago when I got a new Sofa (Couch for the Americans) and I found it was discontinued because it was probably just PFOA in a spray bottle :)

There was that town in the US where 3M dumped PTFE into the rivers and it made it into the drinking water, I watched a documentary where people in that town have a cancer rate 169 times the national average. IIRC

PTFE is one of the greatest chemicals to ingest… if you want to grow some extra body parts.

Not an electrician; I’m guessing this is in Europe? Due to the block connectors and and absence of wire nuts. What was the fitting like before? Having a metal light fitting on a circuit with no earth is not safe. An amateur install may result in exposed live metal components. If you don’t have the ability to test this light and figure out which wire is which I’d call an electrician.
