If twitter users think it’s barely tolerable now, they should imagine how bad it’ll get once Trump actually takes office. They need to switch TODAY.

The best argument I came across went something like this: if we show the Democratic Party that we’ll accept something as horrible as genocide as long as the Republicans are worse, then we’ve completely surrendered our agency as voters.

Powerful statement. It was the most coherent, rational, well thought out explanation I’d seen. It didn’t come off as a condescending lecture on morality, either. I actually considered their argument for a couple days, but ultimately, I decided it wasn’t strong enough to risk another Trump administration.

I think that’s how it should be. We all say stupid things sometimes (or smart but unpopular things). Plus, if someone had a bad few months, it shouldn’t haunt them forever.

I partially blame the mods. They continue to work for free, and have shown that they’ll roll over and ultimately do whatever spez wants. Complaining while still helping Reddit is meaningless at best. The only Reddit mods I have any respect for are the ones who quit.

If you’re a Lemmy mod, I applaud that. You’re passionate about what you do, and you’re also providing a needed resource. If you’re a Reddit mod, you’re voluntarily letting a company exploit your talents. It’s pathetic.

Since the answer is unknowable, you might as well assume the best for yourself. Imagine that the job would have sucked anyway.

For example, I once interviewed for a job, was accepted, then showed up on my first day only to find out that the position had been given to someone else. Was I angry and disappointed? Of course. I made myself feel better by deciding I was better off not working for someone so untrustworthy.

Some people may actually dislike those features, sure, but I don’t think most people will. You wouldn’t know it from watching the news, but people are more tolerant than you think, especially in college.

The best way to get people to stop thinking you’re a “freak” is to spend time with them and show them you’re a nice person. It’s okay if you’re kind of unusual. Everyone is, so try not to worry about it. What you think of as weird traits become charming quirks to people who know you.

Of course, this is much easier said than done. I wish you the best. Just try to remember that nobody judges you as harshly as you judge yourself.
