It’s interesting to see people talking about bots flooding some communities with content and others saying there’s not enough.
I created a bot, not to bring posts and comments from reddit but to use reddit as content curator, to bring links that were engaging there on to here.
However some people think theres a difference between users making a post with just a link to a news article or a bot doing it.
I think there’s a use for bots, when the content they bring is external to both reddit and lemmy, and discussion around it is organic.

You should definitely change it now, before something happens.

I see, I used node bc that’s what I’m most familiarized with. I’m running it from Digitalocean and seems to be stable for now.
But if you have different requirements you should definitely give making one a go.

“boost” is a mastodon term, it’s used there as a “retweet” so you just basically “retweeted” the comment, this only shows up on the “Microblog” tab.

Wow, seems like spez is from the same breed as Elon “Thin-skinned” Musk, no surprises there really. I love to imagine how hurt he is because everyone is saying that to him lol.

I also made a similar bot, might be useful!, this one doesn’t check every single post, only external links, I didn’t want to repost original content or spam communities, so the post only gets one post per hour (which can be changed) and checks the community to see if there’s a similar post there already (same link).

Edit: it uses the json page, and filters posts based on upvotes, downvotes, age, etc. It supports multiple subreddits and communities at the same time.

The bot you are talking about is archiving many posts from reddit, I have one running too, but mine is intended for mods that need to mirror content from their subreddit (only external links, like news) to a magazine or community.

Seems to be a bug with Lemmy, if you click the sub button multiple times it should eventually subscribe

Only if you are in the Microblog tab, since it treats every post as something more akin to a tweet. However it shouldn’t show up on the Threads tab.
Also, you can’t collapse comments at the moment, however the feature is being developed.

You are participating on a kbin thread right now, kbin is basically another lemmy but because they speak the same language we can communicate.
