I use a ps5 controller for all my gaming needs and it works great on Linux (Kubuntu/Nobara) and Steam Deck. I use hardwired when playing on my Linux desktop, but when playing on my Steam Deck it’s over Bluetooth while docked. Still works perfectly fine. I even played Crosscode with my controller just fine on both systems.
I primarily use it on my desktop for FFXIV which is why I do hardwired. Bluetooth can be squirrely if the game isn’t launched through Steam

  • Nobara is a very good starting point for Linux. I personally know Linux stuff from an IT perspective, but personal use/driver troubleshooting is not something I care to fiddle with regularly. I started with Kubuntu since it’s familiar, but eventually swapped to Nobara when I had some issues with the few games I play.
Nobara has been seamless and easy. Having all wine and proton dependencies preinstalled is much nicer and a lot of games Just Work ™️ out of the box.

  • It does need other iPhones nearby that have internet connection. We got a handful to test for family during our trips last November even though we both use Android. They didn’t report in when we were away from other people, but kept location decently when in crowded places like the airport. Android has ways to detect when they are following you, but don’t participate in reporting metrics to the source (maybe that’ll change with upcoming Find My Device features in Android 15)

Mail volume is checked once a year for rebalancing mailboxes on routes among an office’s employees. The volume on a route during mail count also affects salary, even though it varies throughout the year. So yes, less spam mail does impact the post person, though it’d have to be on a much larger scale to be significant and occur during mail count season (spring time iirc). I doubt it’s specifically because of less postage being collected from less mail, but it does match proportionally how much mail a mail carrier delivers and how many units are on their route.

  • It’s very spring here in the south, so I’m outside tending to the yard-wide flower bed we set up last year. I’ve been battling the grass growing back in it for a while and almost gave up after the brutal summer last year killed off half of my plants. I found that using saved up cardboard and mulch keeps a lot of the grass at bay. So that’s been my project for a few weeks now, slowly filling the whole bed and revitalizing the whole thing.
As a small reward for the progress I’ve made, I picked up a few perennials at the store the other day: salvia, lantana, and some consumables - dill, basil, and peppers. They look really nice in the parts of the bed I’ve already tended to :)

  • Most formal cleaning companies will do a deep cleaning to form a clean baseline, or let you add on extras per session to address when you need. Usually it’s hourly based with a minimum time requirement. If you don’t need them to do something, it might work out to be cheaper if doing it would have put you over the minimum time.
If you find a self employed cleaning person, they are more likely to be more flexible and able to handle the odd tasks like tidying up or handling laundry. Maybe even help organize or do other routine tasks that you don’t have the bandwidth for.
