I’m pretty sure that’s just about using the pedals, as in having an ebike with a throttle won’t be an issue (even though throttles are extremely common, mine is 250w + EU speed limit and has a half-twist throttle).
Not that the legislation is 100% unrelated, but I see it likely more of just accepting that people have been going faster for a while.
Yeah, my ebike (45lbs) isn’t that hard to ride when powered off (and I am not the most in-shape). Reading the article, I also wonder if a bike could just be… turned back on (it’s a thumb-accessible button, not a pull-start) if they are aware of this tech. It also seems likely there could be other ways to defeat this (like the bit about being line-of-sight).
Also it would almost be funny if criminals just rode an aerobike or something instead or perhaps even an ebike with all of the electronic bits stripped out (which would also lower the weight), I say almost because it would make this dumb backpack toy fully useless but then I imagine it causing other issues (like pacemakers) if they just keep blasting it out trying to get it to work.
I don’t mind the idea, I’m in the US but I’ve got a 250w ebike w/the EU speed limit* just because it was cheaper… plus faster is less efficient and human power means I get less blob-like so it’s a win-win.
Then again, it does have a twist throttle and I use this most often to slowly approach** or accelerate out of a stop sign (esp. crossing a road). Sometimes I’ve used it so I didn’t need to pedal in the sun (I cannot really sweat). I’ve needed to use it twice when my chain fell off and I didn’t have gloves with me. But generally my legs are contributing something… I wouldn’t mind some sort of different throttle programming, but really I don’t think my bike is one that is an issue at all w/throttle and throttle programming definitely wouldn’t cover all of these scenarios.
Another thing is if I come to a stop and have forgotten to change gears, throttle is a save there too thanks to it not using the chain for its gearing. Or it can just mean less gear-changing in general.
*= 25 km/h (~15mph). I have not changed it, plus my bike (with me riding it at least) is not even quickly hitting this speed, most of the time I was going ~10mph. To hit motor cutoff speed on flat ground I’d probably need to be be in highest gear+PAS and be really putting a lot of effort in (including leaning down for less drag, I normally ride in a relaxed position).

What about, oh I don’t know… a mirror? One of the things that most ebikes don’t include (also a courtesy bell, loud horn is a different purpose).
Then again, I haven’t ridden my bike in a while (local trail closure) and even after getting a mirror riding near a road doesn’t appeal to me (especially when in my area the alternative to being on the road is usually a ditch).
Personally I keep it at 160-175C (320-347F) because I don’t want to be even close to combustion.
Are you running the fan during pre-heat? (I run it on lowest)
After that, I also let the material pre-heat (no fan, capped) as well for at least 5mins. (Also some stuff like inital pulls of air at start of pre-heat and stirring after pre-heat, but I have no idea if that does much)
From what I’ve heard (and seen a few times), heating to a higher temp and then stepping it down might give you more clouds. But I assume that is either just an effect similar to condensation and/or maybe slightly more extraction due to better heat soak.
For reference I just have an EQ with nothing special, and my material was free (not the best/freshest, though I assume that’s more about weak flavor or quick-to-turn-harsh more than it is potency itself) and also I just rip a bit by hand instead of pre-grind (I keep the AVB, doesn’t taste bad IMO because lower temp).

Why, don’t you just have the better version already? The only thing I can think of would be wanting a smaller setup, and it seems like you could do that already (perhaps with some ingenuity even using the spare glass from someone else’s desktop unit for a balloonbag/whip etc especially if the temperature is not set too high).
EDIT: Ok, I’m guessing the lack of a fan is a difference. And seeing people mention a ball vape being an issue due to potential burn risk (for social gatherings at least).
Even then I see a lot of problems, and at least 3 of them are cost. I could maybe see a step down (more of a slowfall type thing negating body weight and using jumping) but even then I don’t see that working well where all the land is owned (also: wires, momentum), and electric paragliding might be the more realistic today option (that probably isn’t all that practical either).
Sticking to the ground just makes more sense, heck for the brief moment when I had my legs not-fully-out-of-shape from riding my geared 250w ebike regularly (and after recovering from a 22 mile trip) I was wondering if a motor is even (fully) needed (assuming I could get a tri-fold knockoff or used minivelo for cheap for less weight… and possibly slightly smaller though my ebike is already 20" wheels thus a similar size category). And note I do have health issues (I still might want an ebike on a hot and sunny day, assuming a lighter bike is not a massive difference)
Probably because it is, and then add in federation issues (at least that’s been my experience with Kbin). That and if I post about something niche people may have no reason to actually respond.
The publisher of this is somewhat scummy* so I wouldn’t doubt whatever this is being completely planned/manufactured to get in the headlines. Or at least the idea being originally pushed by the publisher to “boost engagement” on Imgur/Reddit.
*= Publisher having a decent amount of games, using multiple accounts for unpaid self-promotion on Imgur (to the point I assume they either made devs do this or pretended to be them) on top of crowdfunding+early-access. Also one of the published games was de-listed on Steam temporarily due to a license dispute with the creator (who now has the rights).
I like my now-discontinued D4S but I get it wouldn’t be for everyone. Though it also has some features* at a fraction** of the price of this. Their new stuff is a different price category and not going for value IMO. And it’s not like the D4S is heavy at 45lbs (certainly not the lightest, but weight is diminishing returns IMO).
*= gears (really needed on a 250w bike), adjustable-height handlebar stem, included (but not preinstalled) fenders, speedometer/battery etc w/o needing an app
**= I bought mine on-sale for $720, and it went even cheaper after that
I cannot stress enough how much single-speed at 250w and this price is a deal-breaker. Even if it were a premium product it wouldn’t make up for the lack of some sort of gear system (I’d say IGH because belt drive but I know that might conflict with the motor’s use of the hub for its own gearing).

Also because off-road tires, and only 250w. My 250w ebike is similar (even in weight!) but was way cheaper (both in terms of cost and build quality) and I couldn’t imagine it being even half-as-viable with single-speed. The folding design of this sure looks better that mine, though.

I meant newer than the context I stated (1983). And also ground floor stuff that doesn’t need internet (after install) and doesn’t need a purchase/sign-up. Available by default or not too obscure to get decent voices.
There might be some half-decent voices somewhere, but it really just doesn’t seem like it’s night-and-day for the ground floor stuff from what I’ve seen. Maybe some vocaloid stuff but even that seems like a chore to do the phonemes manually to get expected pronunciation.
Yeah, in my opinion this sounds worse than DECtalk from all the way back in 1983 (for instance, Perfect Paul). Or MacinTalk (see its usage in Whatever Happened to Robot Jones, particularly the original version).
The newer stuff often tries to sound less robotic but then if it doesn’t have the complexity to sound realistic it just sounds worse, harder to understand and yet also sounding uglier… warbly.

Funnily enough it didn’t have any discovery features whatsoever (no front page, popular, latest etc), it was just a search bar that took you right into the video so you needed an idea what it is you wanted to see. And I don’t think it was nearly as popular as other sites (like you probably weren’t finding it from search results, as I don’t think it even had the info that’d be grabbed, and probably didn’t even have SEO or anything like that)
I tested one (Lectric XP 2.0 I think) and ended up buying a different brand on sale: cheaper, 45Lbs, smaller, only 250w, 10.4Ah, and has gears (unlike the Lectric Lite). Overall I did not mind the lower power or size, and I much prefer moving/storing it (I am on the ground floor, but stored my bike in my small room). I am not weak (but not in peak shape either, health issues) so 45Lbs I’d say is at the point where it doesn’t feel bulky.
Unfortunately I have not ridden it in more than half a year (and no idea for timeline) because the local trail closed in both directions for renovation. Just before that happened I was noticing riding got easier, thinking about maybe getting an even smaller/lighter non-electric bike (maybe a clone of something, maybe used?) would be nice to have.
I recently started using a piece of paper taped to a TV-dinner-table, does that count? It is a nice piece of paper though (slightly larger than standard notebook paper, it’s art paper I think… something I found randomly while re-arranging things).
At one point I was using an infrared mouse which worked somewhat better on rough surfaces, so that’s why I ditched the mousepad.
I got one on sale for ~$700. 250w, 10.4Ah, 45Lbs (and smaller than most bikes), folding, and has gears. I did have to air up the tires and tune the derailleur (and it does not have every feature), even though it was new I wouldn’t say “used Corolla of ebikes” would be a bad comparison especially on value (and that it may not be enough for everyone). It went cheaper after I bought it, but looks like that’s because it was discontinued (I don’t see it on their site anymore, also the company seems to have missed the point on it with a comparison to a new model).
But yeah, seeing headlines on this sub I know nothing new is going to compare to that on value. Like their “cheap” is gonna be a $1K+ bike that probably has some other issue like weighing 60Lbs or has no gears.
I use Krita for infrequent no-stakes photo editing (and even pixel art at one point), might not be for everyone but there’s a lot of overlap. Also you can use G’MIC with Krita, so that might help.
I used to use GIMP, but I prefer Krita now.
