No, snaps are epic for command-line software. No dependency hell. When I want an app, this is my order of preference: flatpak ==> snap ==> apt ==> .deb file distributed by the devs of the program

You don’t have to store the encryption key in the cloud. Just the encrypted data. Signal does it this way.

Their prices suck tho, compared to hetzner
I would recommend Hetzner. Their prices are pretty good, VPSs are under GDPR and they have servers in Germany, Finland, Singapore and the USA.
