This is the biggest problem with Valve at the moment. They’re awesome, but only because of the current leadership. Once these guys retire or die, it’s very likely Valve will enshittify like every other business.
Valve needs to be hit by regulators at some point. They just have too much market power.
An optimistic interpretation is that they feel like they can’t stop data collection without being hurt in the marketplace by competitors who will make more money by continuing to collect data, so they want governmentregulations to level the playing field.
That’s being really charitable though…
Don’t worry about channel creators losing money. It may seem like a dick move, but it’s the right thing to do. When channels see that they aren’t making money on Youtube ad revenue, they’ll be forced to either find another source of income (merch, patreon, alternate site, etc), or quit.
That’s better for you, them, and society as a whole since it reduces the power of a monopoly owned by an evil company.
So it’s cryptobro bullshit

I use podman, and the standalone tool “buildah” can build images from dockerfiles, and the tool “skopeo” can upload it to an image repository.
I’m a fan of beancount and it’s corresponding web interface fava.
Since the underlying format is human readable text, it’s easy to edit by hand, and you can send the raw file to your accountant as-is and they should have no issues understanding it.
TiddlyWiki might interest you. It’s an entire wiki stored in a single HTML file. You can even use it without a web server if you want (although a web server makes editing more convenient)
I’ve been on Silverblue (well, Kinoite) for quite a while now, and the only issue I remember having was that I had to use flatseal once to give steam access to an external drive when adding a new library folder.
Everything seems to work fine. I’ve never been prevented from playing a game when I wanted to due to immutability or flatpak issues.
Maybe I’m in the minority here but I’m not a huge fan of the recent trend of sex in mainstream video games. Besides the janky awkwardness of polygons, there’s something off-putting to me about my character having sex. Am I supposed to be pretending that it’s me as I watch the animation happening? When I play a game (esp. an RPG) I can get really immersed in the experience and feel like the mouse/controller is an extension of my hand, shooting fireballs and whatnot. So is it also supposed to be an extension of my penis when my character starts having sex? Am I supposed to be jacking off for maximum immersion?
In movies it’s different because when a character in a movie has sex, the audience understands that they’re watching someone else do it. I’ve never seen a movie where I’m supposed to pretend like I’m the main character and I’m the one having sex. (Hardcore Henry notwithstanding)
I have nothing against porn or adult games as their own thing, but encountering it in a regular game always throws me out of the immersion. Coming from a mainstream studio, it also just feels like a desperate cash grab aimed at horny teenagers more than anything else, even if it’s nothing more than a short fade to black.
Idk, I always wear deodorant so I don’t have enough data to compare.
Maybe you lack the body odor gene and that makes you sweaty when you use deodorant? Or maybe it’s a reaction to the specific brand you use?
Just played for a few hours on my Steam Deck and yeah it does feel a lot like Fallout, but with extra steps. It’s very polished and I’m sure I’ll have a lot of fun with it eventually, but so far I’ve been disappointed with the little I’ve seen.
I got the game for free though, so I don’t feel too bad lol
I don’t trust anyone who invented Javascript.
There’s a joke here about Facebook spying on you
Why not just set a scheduled alarm so you don’t have to manually set it every night?
Reminds me of this company I have to deal with that sells specialty equipment, but the software for interacting with it is hosted on Google Drive. The other day I ran into an issue because they forgot to “share” one of the links, so you couldn’t actually download anything without requesting access. Had to scour the web for an old build hosted on what looked like the first website on the internet.
So yeah, some devs are clueless about these kinds of things. I think hardware people in general either don’t know or don’t care to learn about the software side beyond the bare minimum.
And it’d be adorably digital-only
