You still have to waste 30 minutes of your time driving over there. I’m not wasting 30 minutes of my time to save $5

I’m not a playstation fan but I’d buy a PS5 pro before I’d buy a steam deck TBHQ. I have a negative interest in portable gaming.
They drove for almost an hour because they had to in order to change and not potentially ruin an extremely expensive suit or dress. If they lived downtown they would have just went to their house, changed, then walked back out.
IDK about that. Honestly it seems like a lot of the assholes just went here.
Apple was popular in academia even before Mac OS.
The Apple II was gaining a lot of popularity with colleges before the Mac even came out. And by the time System 7 was renamed to Mac OS 7 in the mid 90s Apple had gone HARD on getting Macs (and until the 90s Apple IIs) into all schools levels.
What is your default sort set to?
I’m set to scaled and subscribed by default which mostly gets me posts from the last 0-6 hours. But for some reason Lemmy on FF keeps logging me out so I get to see the default all with active sort and it’s a wildly different user base.
There was a post the other day in like Linux memes about case sensitivity in the file system. Early on the post was mostly the Linux die hards who love their case sensitivity. After about 1.5 days it showed up in active and all of the newer comments were (probably normal people) bashing case sensitivity. It’s almost like R*ddit to a degree where the general consensus in the comments can change over time as different users start seeing the post.
You can, but assholes out there won’t.
In America we love our wire nuts. Capping off a loose cable is the only acceptable use of a wire nut to me.
For every time you can hyperfocus on work, imagine every time you’ve hyperfocused on ants walking by, or a speck of dust, or literally anything other than what you actually need to do.
I like how posting got fairly fast. Then we started putting absurd amounts of ram into servers so now they’re back to slow.
Like we have a high clock speed dual 32 core AMD server with 1TB of ram that takes at least 5 minutes to do it’s RAM check. So every time you need to reboot you’re just sitting there twiddling your thumbs waiting anxiously.
How much is Microsoft paying for this? There’s no way even asus thinks this is useful.
We’ve failed our children by not having any financial education in our schools, let alone good education. Sure in the rich schools you’ll get it. But not in the areas that need it the most. It’s very easy to slip into crippling debt as a middle class American.
But it’s currently too profitable to have poor education. So it’s going to stay that way unless we help out our neighbors.
Plus lead acid batteries hate being discharged at all. But deep charge cycles are really awful for them.
That said changing batteries every 18 months is a little excessive. Unless your UPS is overcharging the shit out of them they should last way longer than that.
APC makes some good stuff. It’s just all their consumer stuff is garbage.
If you can get a rack mount unit from a data center those are real nice. Just don’t try to buy them brand new.
And most importantly provide examples from their area (which currently we don’t know other than in the euro area).
I think I bought a spool of PETG a while back. I know I have two spools of ABS that I haven’t touched yet, but that was very much for a reason. I’ll be near micro center this weekend so I’ll have to dig through my box of filament before then.
Mine is sadly right in the window, but I might get tint at some point so that should help.
I see you have a window shade, but do you also have tint? On 100f days my interior gets well over 110 even with my shade up.
I’m curious how it holds up as well. I was printing a little deflector for my air vent out of regular PLA, and on an 85 degree day the PLA warped in just a couple of hours. I finally have a design I’m happy with, I just need to print in a better material and all I’ve ever printed in is PLA.
You’re making it for fun. You’ve achieved your desired fun, and lost nothing if some rando takes it and makes another fun project, or big mega corp uses it.
What’s gonna stop them from just stealing it anyways? Why would they care about Joe Shmoe when they have infinite number the lawers you have? Also AI kinda makes this irrelevant because it will rewrite the code in a way that’s probably not protected, or at least provide enough shielding that their 10000 lawyers will.
Also also, what about all the mega corps that already use linux? That’s free an open source and they’re free to run their proprietary code on it. If you’ve ever contributed to linux, or any tool that’s built into a distro you’re not this supposed loser who’s done free work for a big tech company. It’s silly to complain about this.
I just straight up cannot do this. Either I’m spending time with family and giving them the attention they deserve. Or I’m spending time focusing on the game and the attention it needs for me to enjoy it. Multi tasking just leads to me ignoring both.
If it’s a small child and you just need to make sure they’re not killing themselves then I can do that. But besides that, to me it’s one or the other.
