It has been a hit or miss for me. I have signed up for two other instances just in case.

Crazy fact. Firefox, for me, has ALWAYS been much faster/stronger on YouTube than any chromium based browser I’ve used. Better than chrome on their own site. This makes it even better. I love this browser.
WOW, I’m so fucking surprised I almost fell out of my chair.
I have never liked them, always thought they looked ugly as shit. And Musk made me hate them even more once he showed his true colors.
INSERT WTF
That’s my only concern. I don’t mind my comments to be public. That’s what a public place is, unlike other social media platforms who claim to be but they’re not. It’s, like you mentioned, the upvote/downvote system that I’m worried about and will refrain from using. Because it is public, too, it feels like it lets people read your thoughts. So, I’ll refrain from using it until it’s fixed.
I use an app called TrackerControl on my Android phone, and it caught several trackers on DDG, so I stopped using it. Do I know for certain that the app is absolutely accurate? Nope, but it’s a good FOSS that I have been using for a long time and developed a trust relationship with, so I’ll avoid what it warns me about. App is available on F-droid if anyone wants to try it.
Another reason to love Lemmy. I haven’t been on Reddit for a while now and I don’t even miss it. I It got really dull the last couple of weeks. So happy I’m here.
The freedom we have now may not be here in the near future. Your political views, your opinions that you have voiced online could be used to oppress you then. Also, another simpler reason, I don’t want corporations to know my personal life just like how I don’t want my neighbor to know it either. It is called personal, not public.
