I can see why spez is upset about scrappers and search engines - image a company profiting from people creating lots of data, just hoarding it and using it for free, and not paying those people a cent, preposterous, right? :)

It’s always porn, isn’t it? We don’t need to protect children from misinformation, fascism, violence, racism, discrimination or exploitation on the internet, it’s always just porn for some reason…
Oh, “It’s almost entirely blind to almost all consumers”? That’s almost fine then!
From Generative AI to Greed AI in one simple step, no need to change the acronym either!
EA: you thought our games were garbage before? Hold our beer!
Let me tell you about my revolutionary way to prevent athlete’s foot!
Also, did you know you can prevent testicular cancer with one simple snip step?
I’m not hiding anything - I’m just one of those weird people that uninstall apps I think are garbage and don’t continue to use them. These issues are clearly important to you, and it seems Chrome ticks every single box for you, while Firefox does not. Fortunately you have a choice, and you can use your preferred browser - nothing wrong about that. I prefer Firefox and uninstalled Chrome, you can do the opposite and we’ll both be happy.
Cool, fortunately you can just use Chrome if you like it so much - nobody is forcing you to suffer with Firefox - just uninstall it and move on!
And that’s why location is always off on all my devices, and gets turned on only when I want to search for something nearby or use navigation. Then it goes back off until the next time I need it.
It’s insane, isn’t it? Why do so many companies act like employees are their indentured servants and not professionals who provide their services to them in exchange for money?
If anything, the boss should have said “Are you sure just 3 days are enough? How about you take the whole week off instead and come back fully refreshed?”. I do hope the court throws the book at them - time off should be a goddamned sacred right if every employee.
Even better - I can just let it lapse then and still play using my preferred controller - thanks for letting me know!
Yeah, but recently PS+ subscriptions only get a around 20% discount on Black Friday, and Sony is hiking the price up by now than 30, so it’s more than likely that the discounted price is still going to be higher than the full price now…
This price hike is absurd - fortunately the only game I play online (Warframe) is implementing cross-save soon, so I’ll be able to move away from Playstation and stop renewing Plus - 80 dollars for online pay and cloud saves is robbery, how greedy can you get?!
True - which seems to be a bug to me, since that’s what studying by New is supposed to show. I do find all the bugs kinda endearing though - reminds me of the internet of old and the time when reddit wax starting :)
Sorting by anything seems pretty buggy now - growing pains, I guess. I tend to sort by “New comments” and from time to time I’ll get threads with zero comments on top of my feed…
I’m sure it’s going to get better with time - right now we’re all basically taking part in an extended load test for Lemmy and federation mechanisms :)
Right, DUTY to provide free labor for prospective shareholde… err, users, we mean users! Yes, duty to users, that sounds good and inoffensive and like we actually care about our human cattle… I mean, valuable users, there’s that slip of the tongue again…
Other than ones already mentioned, I’ve been enjoying Tildes, squabbles.io and newsminimalist.com
Not sure if I agree with him (or rather, pretty sure I disagree). The protest was very successful for me - it got me off the site, and I have no plans of going back, even if it fully opens and goes back to “normal”. In my case, reddit is not winning, it completely lost. I see more people like me around here every day and it makes me happy. Can’t remember lat time reddit made me happy, so I’m enjoying the change, even if it comes with a fair bit of jank.
I just posted it elsewhere, but that’s only the beginning. They also announced their intent to turn reddit into an even more ad-infested hellhole than it already is: https://www.redditinc.com/blog/investing-in-what-makes-reddit-unique-introducing-contextual-keyword-targeting-and-product-ads
This is the future of reddit everyone - abandon all hope ye who clicketh here: https://www.redditinc.com/assets/images/site/image2.gif
I still play it, even though the console version was basically abandoned ages ago and we didn’t even get the offline mode and seasonal journey PC players got. It’s still really fun regardless and is recommend it to anyone who likes that style of game.
