If you have access to any kind of UX and UI folks, you automagicallly get a leg up on this, y’all. It is goddamn amazing.
Single dev on a personal project? Go find someone in the community who has an eye for design or hit up a design forum. Work has you on a project with only two other devs and limited resources? Ask for a favor from the UX team down the hall.

Unless you have built your own custom version of wine, and/or you don’t remove your wine directory between versions, you can always install a different version of wine and try it out.
Use the user profiles feature of grapheneos to make a “social” profile and only use that to access Instagram / facebook.
You’ll want to consider isolating IG from your primary profile, to start. The above user’s suggestion hits the nail on the head.
Once the profile ks created, and you’ve installed IG, you’ll want to deselect the option in your Manage Profiles settings on GrapheneOS to ‘Allow running in the backgroud.’ This way, you can ensure the app is entirely stopped until you want it open.
Another consideration may be to turn off your Bluetooth when it’s not in use, as well: BT emits an ‘address’ of sorts that, if another IG user has enabled BT access on their IG app, may be able to detect your phone and track a conversation knowing you are in the other user’s vicinity.
Is IG on a completely different profile in GrapheneOS, or is the app installed on the primary profile where you use your other apps? GrapheneOS’s profiles completely isolate from one another.

I would highly consider leveraging the AsteroidOS project – a privacy-focused linux smart watch effort – on one of their approved devices. That link should bring you straight to the watches they support.
Pine Time works well with Pine Phone, but only has basic functionality with other Android devices, like notifications. Not much else last I looked, but I may be out of sync with the community’s development efforts.
The Bangle.js 2 smart watch is another open source device you could look into.

Even though there’s a small monthly cost, the results have been consistent for Kagi. But consistency meets only half of my needs for search: I also want to make decisions quickly from what I find within the contents. If I were to to go to a link, wait for it to load, scroll the content, etc. – does that listed forum post have the answer I am looking for? Does this news article cover the nuances I have been tracking and would like to read more of? Kagi offers an AI-based summarize feature that helps. And that’s been meeting the other half of my needs, as well.
EDIT, an opinion: Search services may well be eventually replaced by small, niche LLMs trained to perform summerization tasks, such as Consensus, which I have used for work research, and Perplexity.ai. The AI summarize feature of Kagi is why I see the service as more useful than straight indexes, even when self-hosted. Kagi is a stepping stone toward this for me, and why I recommend it.

NC Password works well, but does require the server to be up – that can be a painpoint. Keeping an encrypted CSV/spreadsheet backup of your passwords for offline use is one option. A rational enough research endeavor – until it begins to lean into some racially charged, off-hand remarks about the nature certain of donations. But that’s Lunduke for you. Realized who I was reading half-way through.
For those who want some context: Lunduke is a conservative IT pundit, and his video and article content tends to read a bit like post hoc justification for his conservative views, when the reality tends to be that his conservative views have more recently been a kind of justification for creating content the way he does.
Know that he is like this in much of his content now. This is just a ‘reader, be aware’ statement, if you find yourself going down the rabbit hole.

I suspect it may be a bit more along how you’re describing here – we expect some user experience patterns to already be in place, if not considered, like not being able to select inappropriate handles. Former Twitter folks should know ‘better.’ From the outside looking in, it tracks.
I wonder if the Bluesky team, right now at least, is more engineer / dev heavy, and they have not brought on UX folks to help drive a product design that considers patterns we’d be used to experiencing. They may be operating pretty lean.
