Aren’t cellphone NFC payment essentially a long-form version of this? As far as the machine is concerned they’re getting your CC info, but Google/Samsung/Apple Pay are acting as a middleman and your actual credit card information is never actually shared.

What annoys me and I don’t entirely understand is the purge tower. If I purge to infill or another object, why am I still having to build this dumb tower? If you choose to disable the tower, it disables the purge to infill option.

Gist time I sliced something for my AMS lite I was flabbergasted by the increase in printing time and waste.

For those unaware, since you’re often having 4 filament changes per layer, each of which take about a minute, a 1hr mono-fillament print can suddenly turn into a 36-hr print with 5-10x more filament being purged than ends up in the model.

It’s really cool, but super wasteful.

But you can strategize to minimize filament changes by splitting up a model and stacking it to minimize filament changes per layer. This one only took about 8 hours.

That’s simply not true anymore. Most printers work on windows locally and through a network without any special driver installations these days.

You can buy a printer, a computer, and a wifi adapter, network them together, and start printing without installing any printer utilities or additional drivers.

They’ve come a long way in this area.

I hooked up a 2013 printer to my new wifi network, opened a pdf on my phone, clicked “print” and selected the printer from the dropdown list. No driver installation. No special app for the printer. It just works.

Printers are something they’ve actually figured out on the last few years.

I can go somewhere I’ve never been, get the login for the network, and print documents from my phone without any downloading drivers, sacrificing goats or anything.

Why do people around here so insistent on locking down Steam’s monopoly status? More stores is a good thing, and if Epic wants to fund a game in return for an exclusive period the devs have every right to take the deal.

I don’t see people shitting on Valve for not letting Epic and Ubisoft sell Half-life and Portal.
