  • Money means different things to different people. Look at it this way:

A person is a billionaire and they buy your son a car worth $90k. That would be equivalent to if you make $100k and decide to purchase something for $9. Would you care if your son spent $9 on a friend?

I understand your reservations as I would have them too. But keep in mind, giving your kid that kind of access to a network of that level is priceless. As long as the friend isn’t making your son feel subservient or lesser in any way, I’d leave it be.

My only concern is that kids that come from that kind of money, have access to very expensive lawyers, and therefore take risks most people wouldn’t take. I have seen it happen in person where I live (well used to live). It was an affluent neighborhood and sometimes the kids of these affluent people were complete obnoxious assholes. Not all of them, but definitely a statistically significant portion. That’s what I would be more concerned with. Just my 2¢.

  • Likely because they’re old and resist change like me?

Seriously though it’s such a shift from what I understand I’m very reticent to even start the process. I have a lab at work though that I should really start playing with it at no real risk to anything production. You know what, I’m going to do that next week! Yeah, progress.

First docker and now IPv6. I’m so cutting edge 🤣

    You might have ADHD 😏

Does your mind wander when you read?
    Do you lose things frequently?
Are you losing track of time frequently?
Do you often interrupt people in conversations?
Do you have 12 projects started but nothing finished?
Does your work area look like a bomb when off?

… Just some of my many varied symptoms.

  • I’ve been meaning to check out crowdsec because it seems to fit my niche usage. Wuzah seems VERY powerful and something I could likely use at work so that’s an advantage but very complex. Fail2ban is good at what it does but very simplistic and would require a lot of individual instances that would seem like a bear to maintain. CrowdSec seems like it’s in the Goldilocks zone somewhere in the middle. Pretty powerful, not terribly hard to manage, and not too difficult to install. But I haven’t done anything with any of them yet so I’m not very much help. I am curious what you go with though.

  • So 20k for a golf cart with a bed that goes 90mph. And this is with federal tax credits which who knows will be around next week let alone next year given the current administration. Still seems a bit steep. I’m not saying its not a step in the right direction but still…

I mean their response to “does it have CarPlay” is bring a shitty Bluetooth speaker into your car and use your phone. And they sell stupid little plastic things to can clip to your dashboard like those things you put in the holes of your crocs.

All I want is a reliable truck with 200 miles of range that could pull a small trailer (with obviously shorter range) and a few bells and whistles like a decent head unit and power windows for under $30k. This seems so close.
