Also zeppo@lemmy.world. Not a lot of Zeppos out here.

Definitely could be. Not sure what other conditions might do this… dishydrosis covers internal reactions to foods as well as topical exposure to chemicals. I’ll note also that the one finger or one toe thing happened to me at various times, which suggested to me it wasn’t my skin being exposed to an irritant. Sometimes it was the same fingers or toes on both sides of my body, which is a common feature of autoimmune skin conditions.
That was how I felt. I was so pleased when it would go away for a while, then I’d notice the first little vesicles or bumps forming and be like fuck. I became sort of obsessed with monitoring it, though there was nothing I could do. I guess I could have gone to urgent care and gotten the steroid creme, if I had actually had insurance or $400 to spare.
Sounds like dyshidrotic eczema aka dyshidrosis to me. I had that for years. I’d get slightly different effects depending on precisely what type of skin it was on… finger tips, sides of fingers, tops, palm, sides of hands… also it was on my toes a lot. I’d get tiny dots under the skin, sometimes in clusters, sometimes red bumps like pimples, and they’d burst and leave ‘dry skin’ and peeling. It could be itchy as hell and also made stuff like washing dishes hellish, like my hands were covered in papercuts. My hands at times itched like mad, to where I’d practically strip the skin off scratching them, and that would help for about 1.5 seconds. It would sometimes go away for a week or two and then come back, but was present 95% of the time.
It was misdiagnosed by PCPs as athlete’s foot several times, even when it was on my hands, which didn’t make much sense but doctors were “oh yeah! it can be on your hands!”. But my hands were quite dry. The prescription steroid/antifungal always cleared it up and it would go away for months, but OTC antifungal creams and sprays did nothing. Hmm.
Anyway, I finally figured out it def wasn’t athlete’s foot and saw a dermatologist. He said dyshidrosis immediately. I’d suggest to see a derma if possible. Anyway, if it is that, the treatment, other than temporary abatement from steroids, is figuring out what the trigger is. It’s a pretty common autoimmune condition with ‘unknown triggers’, which I interpret as meaning it’s different for various people. For me, it turned out to be gluten. I had to go GF for Celiac disease and my hand & foot skin issue cleared up entirely for the first time in 20 years.
I use Gimp. There are versions for Linux, Mac and Windows.
Open the image. If it contains Exif rotation data, it will ask if you want to rotate it or leave it as-is. Choose to rotate it. It will also probably ask about transforming the color profile. Just say whatever to that as it’s not a huge difference.
Crop the image or do whatever, then choose “File > Export As”. You’ll get a filename dialog, where you can also specify the format in the extension of the filename, then “Export Image” dialog with a lot of options. Uncheck “Save Exif data” and “Save XMP data”, and click Export.
I think they made all of this with analog instruments. Good call on the tape loops though. That first link sounds reminiscent of much of their other work, which is more straightforward vocal ‘alternative’ sort of stuff. Thanks for the links!
Regular Broadcast is great, if you like that style of music (something like Stereolab, but more literary?). Microtronics is for sure mind expanding too. My fave is #17 because it’s just sort of insane.
Have you tried changing your default search to something else?
Lovely explanation, thanks!
Yeah, hopefully it would be clearly labeled. I went to a Presbyterian church one time and at their communion, everyone else got wonderful looking artisan brown bread. They gave me this weird half-and-half cup with brown looking wine and this tiny 1 cm chip of theoretically gluten free cracker sealed on top. It was kinda interesting so I just kept it.
Like many laws in the US, it’s a hodgepodge of local, county and state regulations. As someone else here mentioned you can get one small city where you can drink legally in a park and in the neighboring town you technically can’t even drink on your porch. Problem with the latter situation is that not only is it ridiculous, but enforcement is likely to be unevenly centered on people of lower income or whoever the police happen to not like.
Cities such as Denver allow drinking in parks, but make the law difficult to follow - you have to be more than 50 feet from “any roadway, playground, recreation center, or swimming pool”. So I guess in the center of large parks only.
Celiac technically isn’t an allergy, but yes. Some denominations will give you a gluten free communion wafer. Catholicism, however, requires one that contains wheat although it’s possible to get a very low gluten option that probably won’t trigger a reaction.
Some wines are fined with micro wheat, and sealing barrels with wheat paste is traditional. Not sure how much it adds up to, though. Other than that, wine is always gluten free, unless you’re counting barley wine.
They’re completely different styles of games and BG3 has been out for months already, so okay.
Do you observe other people on YouTube using a special character format?
I don’t think the rest of us have had this problem to the extent that we know a special character format.
Not many possibilities, are there? People substitute letters with number or punctuation that look like the letters, use various homophones, or split up words with punctuation. Maybe you could try translating your comments to Greek or Romanian.
The US insurance system is one of the most ridiculous corporate bureaucracies and consumer ripoff scheme ever devised. It was amazing to see the blitz of corporate propaganda unleashed when the Obama admin was trying to reform it (Clintons tried, too) and the deluded people (Republicans, of course) were enraged and terrified at anything changing (I LIKE my plan!! and my favorite, “Keep the government away from my Medicare!”)
It sounds like everything is working, so… whats the issue?
