Thanks for explaining the Mastodon-Lemmy compatibility thing. I’ve been confused about it for quite awhile. My alt’s instance blocks a bunch of Mastodon servers, and I’ve always wondered why, since I almost never see any content from Mastodon users on here anyway. I always assumed it was simply a gesture for the admins show that they disapprove of that server’s policies or something.
I looked through several of these ‘title’ posts, and that does seem to be the most common use for that now that I look at it. Though I do occassionally come across stuff that you could probably come up with a decent title for, but might take longer than is worthwhile. Thank you!
I see now, thank you. I was just wondering. Now that I look a little more at the ‘Title’ posts as examples for others to look at, the more I see that it’s usually for stuff that’s hard to title without spoiling the content of the post (e.g. typing out the entire text of a meme would be really annoying)
Just got two specific ones in my reply to @ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone. You can probably find a few more by going into search, filtering it to post only, and typing in ‘title’ as the search text. Usually I don’t click into them, so I can’t recall any specific ones that stuck out at me from my history, but I remember seeing some in my feed time to time, enough to make me wonder why it’s relatively common.
That sounds like it could be a plausible answer, so I looked for some posts called “Title” (or some variation), but both the users I happened to find who did this have a Lemmy site as their home instance.
So there must be another reason. I also wasn’t aware that your posts from Mastodon could federate to Lemmy. I thought the two platforms were incompatible, since here all content has to fit into a specific community, but there you have to use hashtags, which don’t seem to correlate to any specific Lemmy communites (though I’ve only lurked on a few Mastodon instances; I don’t have an account)
Hm…supposing I’m a man…it would depend on how you’d define “extreme”. If she were the “kill all men/men are useless” type that you occassionally stumble across on Twitter, or thinks that women who are more feminine are undeserving of respect, I would say hard pass. But some might define extreme feminists of ones who just want basic rights, but are very vocal about them, like to have an abortion when the fetus isn’t that developed, or, hell, not to get arrested for having a miscarriage. Or get paid/longer maternity leave (mostly opposed by people who underestimate the difficulty of childcare). Depends on how far right the individual judging leans. For that second type, I may accept.
By “beside they being man or woman”, do you mean would I marry someone as long as they were an extreme feminist regardless of my own sexual preferences?
Oh…god I sprained my brain rereading it three times trying to reinterpret the last part. But yeah, the last part does seem to be asking if they are ugly and don’t use makeup because they are feminists. I thought he was just adding extra words to intentionally confuse people.
Revised version: Are extremist feminist females “ugly” because they don’t wear makeup because of patriarchy, or are they feminists and don’t wear makeup because they are ugly?
My attempt at translating this question to regular English: Are extremist feminist females “ugly” because they don’t wear makeup because of patriarchy and are “so feminist”? (Cut out some parts I thought were redundant)
Has any feminist really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
I can get people being cautious about for-profits trying to monetize user data, but trying to ruin this guy’s life over it, regardless of whether or not he was actually trying to make money from their data, is just sick. Anyone who thinks this is an acceptable method of protest is fucked up in the head.
I can get why that user might have a pro-communist bias themself due to being from a pro-communist instance, but the articles they linked seemed to be an accurate enough representation of how the far left and far right see Wikipedia.
Maybe not completely accurate to how it really is in all aspects, but I don’t really care enough about Wikipedia’s biases to fact check each contradictory claim in each article. I barely use it as a point of reference anymore anyways. (Though I’ve found it tends to have a liberal bias, like both the articles stated. I seem to remember that during the past election, some sections of the articles about Trump or featuring him in some way used very emotionally charged language)
But accurate or not, I still find it hilarious to look at the articles side by side. One claims the articles are written mainly by teenagers and the unemployed and supports communism, and the other claims they’re written mostly by privileged White men who hate communism.
