What’s the big dumb button going to do?
Good, so far. Caught a fuck up a work for a project I did in January last Friday. Couldn’t get it figured out. Normally that would have ruined my weekend but I was able to put it aside and think about it today at work.
Stupid calculation error because we had been shuffling numbers around at last minute client request. Figured it out now, and I’m back on track.
Blew my dietary macros today, but I’ve been doing good in that department otherwise
Soil science has entered the chat
I like this idea - semi-sentient mushrooms just dictating the biome to suit their needs
Do you have a certificate of analysis? I tried to find one for this product but couldn’t. A COA shows exactly what’s in it and in how many mg/kg.
Given that it’s fish/seaweed you could have a salinity/sodicity issue.
@j_roby@slrpnk.net help this guy out.
Those necrotic margins make me think it’s a K deficiency. I don’t grow weed, but I’ve got a soils background and nutrient deficiencies are a secondary skill.
What kind of fertilizer did you add?
This is my cup of tea; though not in an urban setting. I write at very long lengths about reclaiming developments into something useful (though usually that’s just forest).
The thing, I suspect, with abandoned rail lines, is that they are still owned by the rail company, and just not used. They don’t plan to use them, but they’re still holding onto the property or lease because that’s cheaper than actually cleaning/rehabilitating the rail line. Just another product of our capitalistic system. The free hand is all well and good, but if you don’t have any regulation on industry, this is exactly what you end up with. This is what happened in the mining industry for years. Welp! we’re done. Pack 'er up boys, and turn off the mill on the way out.
A comma maybe, then.
‘the people once tied to them killed in a crosswalk’ really sounds weird to me.
Heck, my phone agrees.
I’m very much a proponent of careful planning and going into things with our eyes open. Sadly, I don’t think we are in a position to know what we don’t know or even find it out at this point because we are on a compressed timeline.
It’s like worrying about the effects of fire retardant from the fire department’s trucks, when your house is on fire… and the other option in the equation is a flamethrower
I’ll allow it.
That and developing countries have been able to adopt some green initiatives, which points to them being at least somewhat affordable
There may be carbon emitted in creating green energy but green energy is ultimately reducing demand for hydrocarbons, which is better than sequestration. Also you need to factor into the operational life of the green tech. If you do, it’s pretty clear pretty fast that it’s beneficial to go with green energy options. The argument you’re making is a common strawman argument for not investing in green energy.
I generally agree with this sentiment: fuck cars in general, but we can’t discount the reduction in oil demand associated with EVs. Transportation accounts for 50%ish of total emissions. That’s a big piece of the pie in terms of emissions reduction. Further, storage and reduction don’t translate at a 1:1 ratio. If you reduce, you’re much better off than storing in terms of carbon.
Do we need a much better transportation system? Absofuckingloutley. EVs can help transition, at least in the short term but I see hybrid of trains/buses and micromobility as the path forward

Lol: someone reported this comment as ‘criminally wrong’ because they didn’t get your sarcasm
I’m talking about nature in that regard, not just plants
