Yeah, that’s pretty much the only part of Lemmy I really don’t like. It feels drastically more political than Reddit did. I didn’t even know what the hell a tankie was before I joined Lemmy.

I’m just looking at the PCGamer article- I don’t have a Statista account and I’m guessing the only source for that is the PCGamer article anyways because the numbers are the exact same.

There’s ~46,000 response that reported income there, and 22217 of them reported making less than $10,000. Another 9179 said less than $25000. I don’t think this is going to be indicative of gamers in general based off of just that.

Across the board the most common reasons were ‘demo game’, which would likely end up resulting in a sale anyways, and ‘can’t afford’ which would likely not result in a sale regardless of the ability to pirate.

But you’re right that I could absolutely see an exec reading that article, looking at a chart and losing his mind.

Source? My sample size is small, but out of my entire group(maybe 11 people) exactly one pirates PC games. I’d be shocked if 1/3 of gamers in general were pirating stuff with any kind of regularity.

If you’re including pirating console games to play via emulation that number jumps drastically, though.

That would be entirely too easily bypassed. Also, afaik, it’s kinda what Denuvo does when it’s offline. You can take a file from a legitimate install- I don’t know how/which one- and put it in a pirated copy and Denuvo will work fine… for two days. Then the little certificate or w.e. expires, and you’ve gotta get another one.

Yeah, it’s possible. It’s not incredibly likely, though, I’ve bought maybe six or seven games from key sites like that over the years and I’ve not been banned.

Just keep in mind that if the price is too good to be true it probably is- be really wary of any keys that are below the historical low for whatever game you’re buying.

Unless he wants to travel to a place willing to enforce the ICC’s arrest warrant. Afaik he’s only been to Mongolia and South Africa since the warrant was issued, and both were criticized pretty heavily for not enforcing it.

Realistically, he’s not going anywhere that even might arrest him.

Either way, if nobody is going to enforce an arrest warrant they’re not going to claim a bounty either.

Legitimacy.

Because A: putting a bounty on the leader of a nuclear power is drastically different from the leader of a… terrorist rebel organization(I’m not entirely sure what to call al qaeda).

And because B: it would change basically nothing. Putin already can’t travel in most places internationally because there’s an ICC warrant out on him for war crimes. The bounty isn’t going to be relevant in Russia or allied places, and it’s not going to be much of a motivator to an entire government.
