1 minute videos aren’t put into the shorts interface, so it’s not YouTube noticing that you disabled shorts but rather some YouTuber trying to follow the algorithm using a channel they made for shorts and mistakenly (I assume) uploading a video longer than minute on it. All such videos appear as normal videos instead of as shorts.

Google is terrible though, so I understand why you would think that.

I can only tell you what I read it as: it’s about the current increase in regulations from the EU, this can be specifically read as a way to avoid getting regulated by DMA which aims to make any massively popular services have to have crossplay or compatibility methods that any other competitor can use.

It’s basically asking any service to have a standard way of interoperability with everyone else, which ActivityPub can be considered for social media, and Meta is using federating with ActivityPub based services while getting blocked by them as a plausibly deniable way of interoperability without actually having to do that because they’re blocked by most of the other services and they can surely find ways to block other popular servers by claiming that those servers are not doing as good of a job at moderating, allowing Meta to have their cake and eat it too basically.

This is why I think FUP should be a thing on unlimited offers. I have missed out on being able to utilise great services because people abuse it. I was so happy when Pixels came with unlimited photo/video backup but because people were uploading DSLR pics and pirated movies and shows, it stopped existing.

I don’t understand the pro privacy argument as well as I would like to, and feel like if I were to lose mental faculties which works like an intuition in regards to why this can be bad I might end up on the opposite side.

I am writing this comment to invite explanations which can work on even the most naive person to someone with a higher level of understanding. Also because usually these reasons are given to bad faith actors or in a heated argument, so they don’t get to be as well put together (or at least that’s been my experience and why I feel I don’t understand it as well as should by now)

They have all been involved since the beginning afaik, but the others didn’t make videos in the beginning. It’s always been an exploration of various things rather than being a specific topic. The best way I would describe it is scientific method the channel but that’s not entirely accurate, it’s like the journey is the destination, of going through the motions of accomplishing whatever task they set out to do in the beginning of the video.
