I finished coating the inside of my steel frame for the second year. No signs of internal rust when I inspected it, except for the bridge of the chainstay.
For some reason, my fender doesn’t cover this hole, so wheel spray goes directly into it. 🤔
Replaced all bolts with SS, packed marine grease in front of any bearings, and made sure that all rustable parts have either a bit of oil or grease on them.

Do you just wipe the waxed chain off after returning home, then hit it with 99% isopropyl alcohol?

None of these are problems that prevent me from riding in the winter.
The biggest issue I have with winter riding, by a long shot, is road salt. I hate the fact that riding in the winter, even once, means that I’m ruining my bike somehow because of road salt. If not for that, I’d be out nearly as often as I would during the warmer months.
This was one of the rare times I installed a firmware update without waiting. They even sent an email telling me how urgent it was to get my NAS patched.
To that note, anyone have any idea how to get Hyper Backup to stop telling me that my backups are “partial” because Video Station is no longer found? It’s not even on the list of apps, but tells me that it’s been disabled as an option to back up because it’s not available. Annoying!
Does this new version fix the issue where it ends up capturing “choose your country”, cookie popups, and generally something NOT intended?
I was having problems like that all the time, so I had to uninstall it.
Compared to something like the FF extension “SingleFile”, I wish Linkwarden worked better :(
I’ve never have issues with water on the outside of motorcycle helmets that have had water repellant coating on them.
For me, condensation and a foggy visor (on the inside) was a major PITA as the temperatures got colder.

Oof. That removes one of the biggest benefits of having an e-bike.
I’ve been very happy with FreshRSS (docker install) running on my Synology NAS.
Yeah, the metric used (energy output) is a strange way to decide if e-bikes are “worth it” compared to an analogue bike.
Some people will never touch a regular bike, for one reason or another. But they’ll happily get on their e-bike at any chance they get.
If an e-bike motivates someone to not drive, or to be more active, or to explore their community, or to improve their mental health… or all of the above… then, hell yeah, it’s worth it!

I wish we had more options for repairable, reusable, rebuildable, sustainable products.
Companies can still make money if they are selling quality goods… people die and are born every day, so it’s not like they would run out of customers.
The problem is that there are too many incentives for making products disposable, and not enough to make them future proof.
That’s pretty frustrating… that these are made to be disposable, but the majority of the components (apparently, good quality components!) aren’t even reclaimed.
Why aren’t these sold with a $200 deposit, so the user MUST return them or be SOL?
I’m surprised that vape batteries allow for such a high amperage draw. I know that with flashlights, you absolutely need high AMP batteries to avoid trouble.
It’s nice to see that he did the research to find the draw for those cells, and checked the cell health for each. Very cool.

Are we talking about actual motorcycles or something else?
Where I live (ontario, Canada), the Swagtron you mentioned wouldn’t even be allowed to be used legally.
But the definition of motorcycle here is quite expansive, depending on the speed it goes, whether it has two or three wheels, the weight, motor size, etc. They all require special licencing, including “low-speed motorcycles” and mopeds.
Just off the top of my head:
I can come up with dozens of reasons why an e-bike would be better (more practical) than a motorcycle, for pretty much anyone.
I’m not against motorcycles, but they are basically cars with two wheels and far less utility.
The number one thing that most of these don’t do well for me is the connection with banks.
A bit of an anecdote, but i was a long-time user of Mint, which integrated with all my banks and credit cards, which was nice.
When I decided to selfhost, I was disappointed that bank syncing wasn’t a thing, or it had these roundabout ways of working, or they simply didn’t support the banks and credit cards i use.
So… I ended up wity Money Manager EX.
Once i did the initial importing of my records, everything since has been manually entered.
Now, this might seem tedious depending on how many transactions and accounts you manage, but it’s really not.
Depending on how often you update your records, you can do an easy export/import of your transactions from your bank (usually a csv export). Doing this once a month isn’t terrible.
I just manually enter all my transactions. Yes, more work, but also less frustration and it makes me feel more in touch with my spending.
Even not having to worry about the hassle of syncing not working, or having to fix things like that is a huge weight off my shoulders.
Anyway, just wanted to share my experience because bank syncing shouldn’t be a make-or-break thing.
