  • So, gravity isn’t linear, but rotation is.

For reference, I’m a regular guy who looked up the answer, so maybe someone else can get more in depth, but I’ll offer my basic understanding.

The planets weren’t just plopped down in a straight line, they are all chunks of space debris that flew off of bigger chunks of space debris.

If you covered a ball in paint and spun it REALLY fast in a box slightly bigger than the ball, you’d end up with a line of paint on the walls that lines up with the center of the ball.

The planets are like that paint, but gravity essentially “reaches out and ties a tether” to them that keeps them from going further away. And the whole time, EVERYTHING is spinning and floating further away from the point of the Big Bang.

  • I can’t even tell you how many times I tried to put together a big event and had two or three people there.

For my 21st birthday, I didn’t even do the planning, my best friend had invited all our favorite people that we worked with and went to school with. He made plans for someone to drive us around and a list of the local bars that he wanted me to visit. In the end, it was me, that friend, and my girlfriend. We sat in a dive bar for about two hours until my girlfriend took us home because she wasn’t feeling great and didn’t drink.

That’s probably not even the worst one. I’ve had so many nights just sitting and waiting for everyone to arrive only to entertain the same two people that I hang out with every day.

I don’t have any great tips for you, because I don’t try to do things like that anymore, but I understand how you feel, and it just really sucks. Sorry it fell apart like that. Take a day to focus on you and I hope you feel better.

  • I think as individuals, most all of them are opposed to child abuse. Protecting children from “woke groomers” is one of their unifying battle cries.

Sadly, their tribalism is stronger than their concern for the kids. Once one of their own is accused of child abuse, they rally to their defense. In their mind, they are the good guys, and someone who’s on the “good guy team” could never do something like that. The only reasonable explanation is that they were wrongly accused or there was a terrible misunderstanding, or sigh they deserved/ asked for it.

Of course, this rabid tribalism attracts MORE predators. As long as they can convince everyone that they are “one of them” they know that they can get away with a few more lies than if they were hanging out with independent thinkers.

  • I’ve been on both sides of this and when you’ve spent the whole day talking to a dozen people who all seem competent enough to do the job, you go with the person that either has a little more (or more relevant) experience, or whoever you enjoyed talking to the most.

I’m a huge dork, so if you happened to mention something like D&D or Fallout during the interview, you’re probably going to get it. (Assuming everyone is equally qualified.)

But at the same time, I’d never mention anything like that at an interview, because I wouldn’t expect the interviewer to appreciate it.
