We should normalize programs that don’t use such exotic and impossible libraries that you have to do anything besides type “make” and “make install” for it to work.
In theory it’s a no brainer. In practice not so much.

Well I wasn’t planning on playing GTA 5 but now I guess it’ll have to be pirated GTA 5 only so I can play a pre-anticheat version. It sucks that GTA is a game where all the mod developers try hard to make their stuff not work on pirated versions. Guess I’ll be avoiding that entire toxic community as a whole. Cyberpunk a better game anyway.
The internet has slowly become more and more useless over time since the pandemic. It’s fucking impossible to find anything now. Half the time it’s like I have better luck doing an lan search on my home network than looking it up on Google and I’m not even very deep into the self hosted everything rabbit hole.
It’s like they want us all to be stupid, uninformed and not know how to do anything.
No, but the skills you learn by spending 100% of your spare time fixing all the stuff that gets borked after every update prepares you to take better advantage of the easier distros and be more efficient with them.
The CIA got 'em
I’m on lemmynsfw because I like to argue about how shitty society is between wanks
Lots of coffee in the morning and thc at night is the only way for me. I walked away from actual medication years ago because I couldn’t afford it anymore.
This makes installing Skyrim mods harder because mods often contain differing versions of folder names. For example one mod might be “Scripts” and the other might be “scripts”. This means you can’t have Skyrim mods on Linux if you’re allergic to copying files manually as this will generally make mod managers not work as well. People on forums like nexus often have a hard time even grasping the concept of not using a mod manager so it’s hard to get help of any kind.
That’s why you connect an arduino to the motherboards reset pin and load it with a program where it resets the system if it doesn’t receive an ACK signal over the usb connection every 10 minutes.
Eventually though the networking and apache stops working after around 150 days so you also have to make a script that resets the system after 30 minutes of not having network.
One of the few things they’re good at is academic “cheating”. I’m not a fan of how the education industry has become a massive pyramid scheme intended to force as many people into debt as possible, so I see ai as the lesser evil and a way to fight back.
Obviously no one is using ai to successfully do graduate research or anything, I’m just talking about how they take boring easy subjects and load you up with pointless homework and assignments so waste your time rather than learn anything. My homework is obviously ai generated and there’s a lot of it. I’m using every resource available to get by.
How did they get Ohio wrong but Maine correct? Ohio has its own meme. No one ever goes to Maine. No one ever talks about Maine. I forgot Maine existed until I saw this picture. Even the other boring states at least make the news sometimes for doing dumb shit but not Maine.
Cool, if they’re cutting stuff out and selling factories, their days are numbered. Good riddance. That’s what you get for selling everyone the same fucking cpu from about 2010-2020, only bothering to change the pin counts just to sell more motherboards.

Here in America, people will pay $1000, sometimes more for basically the same thing except a little thinner. There’s no incentive to make better laptops because “crappy specs except a little thinner” is what sells. It makes it hard to find actually good laptops without paying an absolute fortune.
I think usually it’s just about costing the competitors money to try and fuck them. That’s the payment. 3ds max is priced unfairly and it’s unreasonable, that’s why Blender exists. Autodesk bought eagle cad, made it cost money, that’s why KiCad got made. I take pride in supporting open source everything in protest of how enshittified the world has become. It harms those corporations when more people use open source which is a cause I can get behind.
I don’t have time for my system to be getting borked once a week. That’s why I use Debian. My system getting borked once every 2 years isn’t that bad.
Ai is excellent at completing low effort ai generated Pearson programming homework while I spend all the time I saved on real projects that actually matter. My hugging face model is probably trained on the same dataset as their bot. It gets it correct about half the time and another 25% of the time, I just have to change a few numbers or brackets around. It takes me longer to read the instructions than it takes the ai bot to spit out the correct answer.
None of it is “good” code but it enables me to have time to write good code somewhere else.
Thanks, I always keep forgetting what this ones called. I use a build of gitea from before it became shit but I keep telling myself I need to change to “that better one”.
Sorry but if the homework requires more than 40 hours a week of study, cheating is no longer unethical. Teach us actually useful shit and be reasonable about it then I’ll reconsider 🤷
I made a similar thing on my home network. It uses php’s built in file upload and runs in the web browser so you don’t even need an app. It’s just basic beginner level html and php in 2 files that goes on my lan server. Makes it super easy to transfer files between phones, windows pcs and Linux pcs.
I gave up on fighting with windows pcs to try getting them to connect to samba shares a long time ago and you’ll never access a samba or windows network share on a smartphone without paying money for some shitty app anyway. Despite this relatively low-tech solution it ends up being more practical just because it’s easy and convenient.
