My go-to solution is to use a vm and pass it raw access to the os disk on my normal desktop. Then I just put the disk into the server.

As a “theoretical hobby game dev”: steam also provides workshop, networking and matchmaking (lobby) tools. For all the stuff you get I personally find this reasonable. If I remember correctly, mobile phone app stores take a big cut too and I can’t see how they would come close.

I reinstalled from scratch. Went from Xubuntu to minimal Ubuntu with KDE de. And then tried wayland again. One the one hand, gaming performance went up by a lot which was basically my main issue.

On the other side it is buggy af. The file manager fails mostly at moving files. There are random graphical glitches. Had the whole DE crash/lock up a couple times And the tabbing/tasbar handling is (still) not what I want. I also have still not found out why zfs automount does not trigger.

But at least I have something useable again!

Gigabyte Aorus maybe? Some years ago I sent in my MB that suddenly stopped working via the store I bought it from. No issues. Repaired and fully functional since.

I sent in another one after for a very weird issue. Long story short, I think something is slightly broken with the RAM slots but since it happens “only” sometimes (depends on how hardware is plugged in; and also randomly), they could not find any problem and sent it back as “OK”. So I am only partial disappointed. Process was without friction and charge.

The board that still currently drives my computer is asrock. Won’t buy them again because they put the cooling fan directly below the (hot) grapics card, made accessing m.2 real shitty and were missing a uefi feature I thought was standard (from gigagbyte; which graphics to use for init).

All my boards fall in the highend category, but not the absolute top. Also, I am in the EU.

I certainly don’t care if others get the game other ways (except unauthorized key stores). I am just happy that good games get their recognition and give people joy. I am in the fortunate situation that I am able to just buy all games I want. Heck, I even bought games for friends who were unsure or even dismissive “if it would be worth it”. I also buy/bought games that I never played or won’t play but watched streamers play it.

Well, uh, with Namecheap it should work just as fine as everywhere else. But as I said, I never used IPv6 and do not have anything on Namecheap anymore since I host my DNS server myself. Just a dumb question but are you sure you added the AAAA for the domain root correctly? Back when I used the web UI for DNS providers it was sometimes very confusing. Maybe you could test a subdomain? Like minecraft.yourdomain.com?

Also: you can query google.com if you want examples of how stuff looks when you get answers back.

There is no answer (“Answer: 0”). If you got one it would be obvious because you would see the ip address. Either the DNS entry is not correct or your dig query does not work. I have not queried AAAA with dig myself yet and I am lazy on mobile. But you can try specifying manually using dig AAAA <your hostname> (at least that works with MX, TXT, CNAME and NS) records. (At least from the question section in your output it just says “A”, not sure.)

Edit: the output of dig is actually quite simple. Lines starting with ; are comments just four your information and improved formatting. Most you can ignore but some are helpful. Most important for you is stuff below your “Answer section” since everything below is, well, the answer for your query. If you do not have one (like in your example) the query did not return any results. This is also stated relatively at the top where it gives you a summary of the numer of queries, answers, authorities, … the request+response contained. There is also the question section (as a comment) which shows an A request, not AAAA. I think that shoud state the query you made which is not what you wanted. (Could be wrong though; never paid attention to that).

I have never seen an implementation of e.g. a mirror that gives up on disagreements of both disks. Repairing/redundnancy is what raid is there for.

I am currently using the new outlook desktop version and there are rules. However, they seem to have cut “local only” stuff. I suspect that they moved the execution server side.

For my small hobby project compiling was absurdly slow. Switching to mold really cut down on waiting time.

OT but beware that nova launcher was sold to some “ad” company. I switched to neo launcher since.

My problem is that it does not work on multiple devices at the same time, so I have personally given up on it. Maybe it has changed, did not check for a long time.

I would like to suggest my wooting keyboard. It is not quiet but i think their switches should qualify as linear. Not sure about the layout but I have the german layout so that might be a “yes”? I have the 100% variant. Sorry, i am not very deep into keyboards.

Their config tool is basically a website, so as long as you have a browser with webusb support on a system it works. Had some problems with the udev rules (most likely a “me” problem), so I used the desktop version instead.

Bonus you get is that the switches are an analog input. So you can change mode to analog and have like “slow walking” in games. Though, I have not tested that yet.

BUT it is hella expensive.

I also have cheap paddles (i think that that is the right word?) off amazon i use often. But the “support” is basically that the config is saved on the device so you config it once in wndows and that was it. I just bound it to random keys once and assign them in games. Would need to dig up what the paddles are called though.
