  • There is a single aspect in which the Switch remains superior: Simplicity. Sure, you could take the time once to set up Yuzu and your Switch games and be rewarded with superior performance.

But the technically less experienced user might be put off by the fact that you can‘t just plonk in the game and play it. That‘s however not exclusive to the Switch.

I tried downloading Switch games from uuuuh… rather bespoke sites and they had a rather uuuuh… curious idea of what ads you could throw into the users face. Vivaldi‘s integrated adblocker simply couldn‘t handle those sites. That discouraged me from downloading games for now. Luckily MIG-Dumper is there to save the day and allow me to back up my games to later play them in Yuzu.

  • I did try Void initially. Void Linux doesn’t have much resources but they did have an IRC chat willing to help… albeit with a little dont ask to ask schtick. I actually installed Void on a few of my devices for a while to try and get my favorite games to run.

Aaaanyway i encountered some weirdness like being able to install a game one time and then not anymore after installing Void on the internal SSD. I didn’t get my favorite Sims games to work and tried various Proton configurations… It was sad. My ex gf told me to buy a graphics card for my GPD Win 2, which has an Intel HD 600. I could but first i’d have to somehow make this thing compatible to Thunderbolt. Intel HD graphics aren’t exactly good but “buy a graphics card” sucks as an answer too, even if in jest.

I do still want to switch to Linux later once my mental health is better. And perhaps once i got the new Win Mini with integrated AMD graphics. I think GPD actually offers SteamOS for their devices so that’s a distro i may want to give a shot. I do love the SteamOS interface and the KDE desktop.

  • Oh look, another Daria fan community!

For context: “Daria” is a 90’s show starring Daria, a snarky girl with a penchant for pessimism, cold, hard observations about the world aaaand some occasional vulnerable moments showing that beneath her misanthropic shell lies an empathetic girl. The way people comment on positive moments shared in your community absolutely reminds me of Daria.

  • In GZSZ the plot really turned bonkers, especially over the years.

Here are a few bullet points:

    • Introduced gay guy
    • Introduced guy that turns out to be bi
    • Introduce girl so guy can learn he’s bi
    • Have him learn he’s bi through practical experimentation
    • Make him decide for one of them
    • Ignore previous events until plot-convenient

Another arc that happened over the span of 1 to 2 years:

    • Introduce bad guy for established woman
    • Make woman fall for bad guy
    • Oh oh! Bad guy is cop!
    • OH OH! BAD GUY IS ABUSIVE!
    • Continue abuse until breakup
    • Introduce dad for woman
    • OOOOOH OOOOH! DAD IS ACTUALLY STALKER!
    • Bad somehow redeems himself
    • Bad guy ends up throwing dad in river, woman and other dudes are witness
    • Nobody tells police
    • Dad returns a few episodes later
    • Bad guy loses job as cop because turns out police doesn’t like coverups (unrealistic af)
    • Bad guy now becomes dollar store punisher because somewhere in between all of this gang is introduced
    • Bad guy stops gang
    • OOOOOOOH NOOOOOOOOOO! THERE’S A CHARACTER WHO DIED AND THE CHARACTER ISN’T DEAD AFTER ALL! WE LEARN THAT THROUGH THE INTRODUCTION OF DOLLAR STORE MISTER RABBIT KILLING EXTRAS! CHARACTER GOT A CRYPTO WALLET AND MISTER RABBIT WANTS IT BACK!
    • BAD GUY IS HERE TO SAVE THE DAY WITH A MULTI-EPISODE TACTICAL ESPIONAGE AND HACKING ARC!
