Germany elected a more left leaning government and they actually did pass some good climate legislation. That was aided by Putin cutting of fossil fuels to Germany as well, but the protests and public mood were certainly on the site of climate action. However the protests were having problems of bringing the same numbers on the street as before covid and the fossil fuel industry spend on a lot on busting the protests.
Then the far right really gained strength in Germany and that became the much more pressing issue, rather then climate change.
Here is a video showing some of the inside. Looks very livable to me.
It is originally from the Iron Front a social democratic organization to defend the democracy of Weimar Germany. The three downwards facing arrows are for Communism, Nazisism and Monarchism. It has been adopted by a lot of anti facists groups since.

FEMA estimates those cost savings can be even higher in the U. S. – and suggests federally funded climate mitigation grants “can save the nation $6 in future disaster costs for every $1 spent on hazard mitigation.”
Just saying.
Also cities change a lot. Only 35% of owner occupied housing in the US is older then 1969. Construction in the US is also an over $2trillion industry, so just changing new construction is a trillion dollar project.

So rather I am rathet amazed that most Australians seem to actually grow at least some of their own food.
MrMakabar@slrpnk.netto solarpunk memes@slrpnk.net•but our kings are richer, isn't that progress?English6·3 months agoMedieval commons had governance systems in place as well. Mostly it was just the right to fish, collect fire wood, pasture or something similar on the land. Building a house is clearly outside most of that.
MrMakabar@slrpnk.netto solarpunk memes@slrpnk.net•but our kings are richer, isn't that progress?English552·3 months agoThe 1/10 is pretty much what could reasonably be taxed from a simpler medieval farmer without them starving.
Also today we do have systems like social security. There are also quite a few things very similar to commons. Roads, parks, public land and so forth come to mind. I am pretty sure, if you created something like common land for farming most everybody would not use it. At least judging by the number of gardens trying to grow food.

Grand Paris, which is Petite Couronne and some other municipalities bordering it, is about as large in areas as Berlin, but with nearly twice the population for example. So we are not talking about some rural or suburban part of the France.
Also it is a general French problem of not adjusting city boundaries for ages. Large French cities rarely have a border with a municipality, which is actually rural.

Hell we have enough satellites to track whales. Especially since they have to surface to breath.
That photo shows two partly submerged Russian submarines in a port, so no waves. Those submarines are 73m long, so longer then a normal whale and the part above the water is also larger then your normal whale. In other words there is no way to spot a whale in the open ocean with satellites.
You mean the guys feeding the deer, so there are more of them and easier to hunt?
