I’m kind of alright with this.

BG3 is genuinely the best video game I’ve ever played and I’ve played like… quite a few of them over 20+ years. A combination of lightning in a bottle and just genuine hard work.

At the same time, I think the story is very much over. They’ve tied a ribbon on it and I really feel like further “expansions” could only make it feel more murky.

As for BG4, this one took about two decades to come out, so I can’t really say how I’ll feel either way in 2050.

Another person listed a good graph but yeah, the amount of volume change in air by temperature (assuming normal ‘human life’ ranges) are a matter of just a few percentage points. Any increase in air pressure is undoubtedly nullified by ambient leaks of air and similar in your tires.

They have already compounded a staggering amount of information onto this man who, by all accounts - was simply one of the most boring and bleak men to live. No one has simply “forgotten” or “not thought” to do that. There’s just nothing there.

And what do you mean “posthumous private life”?? The dead do not have private lives. You can interview his ex girlfriends and siblings as much as you want, none of them will suddenly have more info on him.

Kind of answered this one yourself. There’s no clear motive other than “weird loner gambling addict decides to commit an atrocity”, and there’s just not much to say on the matter.

It’s funny, the “zoomers”/teen audience is not even a bother to me - I genuinely feel like it’s a lot of the more 40-50s demographic which makes any form of conversation a nightmare.

Reddit, especially the bigger subs - feels really, really stupid lately. And I hate to say that because it sounds so insulting, but it really does feel like the average “IQ” on the site has gone from being this kind of tech/nerd culture of reasonably well educated people to like… old ladies complaining about their ‘entitled’ DoorDash drivers. It often feels like Facebook.

Don’t get me wrong, Lemmy isn’t 100% geniuses or anything and there are some smart people on Reddit, but on Lemmy I’ll actually have back and forth conversations with people and it feels like more people are acting like human beings

Same. I hate to feel like an absolute putz just shelling out money to giant corporations but also… at some point I feel like you have to acknowledge that making games is not cheap and that yeah, someone has to pay for it.

It’s always incredible to me whenever I see people gripe about subscription costs for popular MMOs like Runescape and World of Warcraft that are in the range of… (gasp!) $15 per month.

This is… so profoundly and insanely cheap to me. I am not a wealthy man, but $15 for what is very likely a person’s major source of entertainment for the entire month is an insane value.

This is one of those things that feels viscerally weird to me (Who the hell is playing Fortnite for the “Universe”) but then I remember Mojang and Microsoft were able to do basically the same thing (to incredibly profitable results) with… Minecraft of all things.

It’s kind of a weird state of things. In the past you had various Universes (Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, etc) that got adapted into games and such. Now you have games that get adapted into Universes. Different culture in a way.

Arduino is the best place to start imo. Get an LED to blink and youve got your intro to intro to electrical engineering done. Teaches you coding, basics of voltage and wiring, etc. You can scale it up and get pretty advanced and go from there.

As a general word of caution though, as someone who does enjoy hobby electronics, please understand that like 95% of what you can make is going to be something that could these days be bought from Amazon or whatever for $15 or less. It can be a fun hobby, but I think it can sometimes feel like you’re essentially just making Knick knacks and toys and overengineered whoozywhats.

This isn’t a bad thing per se, but something to keep in mind.
