I broke down and bought a lemonade the last time I was at a ren faire. Even before the ice jam packed in the cup started to melt, it barely tasted of lemon. Or sugar. The ice did last for quite some time though, even though it was a hot day. Slow trickle of cold moisture. Silver linings I guess.
My old car was that way. I remember a friend climbing in for a ride and being so embarrassed that the back seat was full of empty beverage bottles. When I finally got a new car, I told myself “no more.” 18 years later, the car looks its age on the interior but it’s not full of trash.
My desk, on the other hand, is still just piles of stuff loosely organized by “newest on top.” 😒
I think it’s more to do with what drugs/classes will be effective/ineffective/dangerous based on known genetic markers. It’s not necessarily hard info, but it can inform the direction of treatment. I’m all for skipping as much of the pharma-go-round as possible.

I took a spin on the pharma-go-round about 20 years ago. Went through just about every stimulant on the market over the course of two years. The only one to have a noticeable effect was Adderall… but the effect was panic attacks for routine issues at work. I was done at that point. I rawdogged reality for 25 years, how bad could it get?

I went through some shit this past winter that basically required me to seek intensive mental health treatment. After one psychiatrist (who declared after 20 minutes of talking to me post-trauma that I didn’t have ADHD) and one useless APN that worked for the program I was in, I found a psychiatrist that listened… but he wanted to slow-walk the ADHD treatment due to severe depression and anxiety while the SSRI did its thing. After a few months of relative stability he wanted to try Lamictal… which promptly gave me hives. I said fuggit and asked for the DNA analysis. I’m not fond of getting put into yet another big database but shots in the dark take too long.

This is an issue with the way communities currently federated. If the host instance goes down, users can continue posting to their local versions of the community, blissfully unaware that their posts are no longer being federated.

My only beef with this video was needing to pause it dozens of times to read the tons of text that flew by too fast. Otherwise, it’s what you expect from Frost: meticulously researched, eloquent, and passionate.
I knew nothing about Nick until the Escapist exodus. I just went with the narrative that it was a solidarity move, and I was thrilled to see SW take off. Frost leaving abruptly (to the public) confused the hell out of me. But that was point 1 addressed in the video. And then the deluge of receipts started.

The most aggressive bees I tend to encounter are male carpenter bees. They are highly territorial and they’ll even buzz a human to scare them off. However, there’s no threat.

I haven’t killed a wasp in years. And that was only because it was building a nest inside my storm door just above eye level. Surprised the shit out of me because I barely saw the nest in the dark, struggled to change focus, and jumped back once I realized what I was seeing. Was not a fun encounter. It’s like, buddy, nobody was gonna be happy with that arrangement.
