Trump has said he wants to bring that back down. You know, because all those hard working Americans who make 40k a year don’t deserve to make overtime I guess.

I got paid a lot more than that doing similar for a while before the pandemic. Since the pandemic companies got caught up in the forcing people back into offices for no reason. When you are assisting people across the nation and there is information that cannot be allowed to be accessed outside it, they have to keep the jobs in the country to keep government contracts. There is no point in hiring someone in the city and have them drive in when it costs more to live in the city, it’s cheaper to pay someone who lives further away.

Why pay someone $35 an hour in a city that they can barely afford to live in and are always looking for a way out the door to find a better rate, when you can hire someone elsewhere who can live comfortably off $35 an hour and considers themselves lucky.

Haha nah, when I first got to Lemmy I created an account on .ml, then .ca, made one on hexbear to understand who they were, one in world, and finally one on dbzero. Figured it couldn’t hurt to find a community of people that was nice. Oh wait, forgot fedia.io when I wanted to figure out what they meant by seeing upvotes/downvotes and who was making them so I could understand more about the interworking of the instances.

You can just create another account in another instance and run them side by side in a singular app. Switching back and forth is simple. I have a couple, reasons can vary, one would be that .world decided to take pirating communities off, to protect themselves. Whether they needed to or not, doesn’t matter, it’s their choice. I just hop to another instance to see those, but most of the content will be the same for me across instances because I haven’t hunted to much for new subs. Probably should eventually.

Sidenote: You also have to remember that they have to detain and hold you before diagnosing you, so they may not “force treatment” so much as hold you for 72 hours without any charges against you. Release if no charges, or detain if qualify to be held involuntarily.

You lose the ability to refuse treatments in any scenario the emergency responders / doctors deem you unfit to make a decision in the best interest of your/someone else health. It’s why “baker acting” in Florida is so controversial. Taking someone against their will and locking them in a facility for a minimum time without any real need of evidence.

Someone calling and telling them you said you were going to kill yourself is often all the evidence they need to start the process, whether you really said that is up to the emergency responders. For my friend that was 9 cop cars in the middle of the night. They dragged him out of bed at 4am because his partner at the time said he hadn’t been responding to her texts and she told them he was depressed so he might kill himself.

Once he got out he told me about it all and I’m fairly certain he won’t ever sleep with his phone on silent/vibrate again. (He broke up with them immediately after, but that has nothing to do with consent)
