Pretty much everything we’ve expected has come to pass so far, only much faster than any of us could’ve foreseen. I would’ve expected them to “get along” for a year or so before calling it quits, but evidently they didn’t even last that long.

If she knows the backlash will be insane and she still has to live there, totally understandable. Make sure you’re aligned on where to go with this in the future. If she truly wants to choose a life with you she may have to break with her family at some point. You can’t expect her to be ready for that at this time, but you also shouldn’t be strung along if she never sees an actual future with you. Good relationships require honesty on both sides and great communication.

I know and that makes it much easier not to take it personally. But I was a part of this company when they still did those things, and elaborately too. Got bought out by a multinational 5 years ago and that’s when all the “personal” stuff almost immediately took a backseat…
an extra week of vacation Damn, that’s nothing to scoff at! That’s 1/4th of a full paycheck. I would kill for that at this point lol. Guess continued employment - for now - seems to be the most I can hope for.
Considering it’s a “career” I’ve felt stuck in for a few years now, one of the only things holding me back from just enjoying myself is/was my sense of loyalty to an entity that is wholly incapable of returning the sentiment. That means the last thing keeping me here now is just the paycheck.
By ignoring me completely on this day, they’ve essentially given me one of the greatest gifts they possibly could have: they have freed me from the very last vestiges of me caring. I simply DGAF anymore. I’ll still show up every day and do my tasks. Maybe document something. Shoot the shit with whomever is at the coffee machine or water cooler.
But come 17.00 I will close all my windows, including the ones titled “urgent!”, turn off my PC and go home and simply REFUSE to even entertain a single thought about all of this. All that time is mine now, 100%.
Thanks for the liberty. Anything else honestly would’ve had me feeling guilty again and second guessing my next steps. Not anymore though.

He actually succeeded somewhat - he managed to save several hens, and when we found him, we thought we was dead. But we rushed him to the vet and he made miraculous recovery! He seemed depressed at first but when we got him back into his yard with the hens he saved he perked back up. He’s very much still with us to this day!
This dapper fellow is named Emo on account of his magnificent coiffure. Super sweet, takes incredible care of his flock. His father was hand-reared and a hero for trying to save his flock from a marten attack.

I know the post is a joke but this has high impact on our lives. You don’t develop a drive for certain things unless you feel rewarded. For a lot of us we put in all the work but never get the reward. It’s fucking hell.

I recently swapped out my old 2080 with a new 5080, but my i7 8086K (type of 8700) is over six years old and it’s really struggling hard with recent titles. Oblivion remastered or Helldivers 2 take between 85 and 95% of cpu time.
The bottleneck is tremendous. I ordered a new cpu, mem, mobo & cooler to bring it back up to par.
AMD is making a lot more off their CPUs than off their GPUs afaik.
