I forget why that happened. I think it was an increase in security required by Google with a newer Android version.
Same. Pretty reliable. Decent Web interface. Can be a bit glitchy if you replace your main phone though - still using smsbackup+ to mirror them to an IMAP folder for easy search and backup.
OK, so we just need to make a Firefox that runs inside Chrome :)
I wonder if the concern is that unlocking the phone might allow you to run some form of data recovery on it and thus obtain access to some of the previous owner’s info?

If you get tired of that, you can probably turn it into a virtual fish tank and Johnny Castaway machine. (1GHz atom, 1gb RAM, XP)
If you have a parallel null modem cable (or even a serial one) you can use the dos interlnk and intersvr command to access the drive from another computer. Not sure if that will help.
Entering the CHS values into bios was common practice on pre pentium level computers. This might explain why your usb adapter doesn’t work as the drive is too old to send its geometry.
