Maybe look into a direct box? I had to use one when recording to change the ohms between the instrument & the usb interface in the tower.

I get you on that, it doesn’t look like much. I’m guessing that’s because it’s a true follow through & looks “traceable”?

Physics or whatnot means the stress that knot puts on itself allows it to retain roughly 80% of the ropes strength, without a backup knot.

Many use a backup knot, but that’s typically just for convenience, to get the loose end out of the way.

The biggest reason, aside from the knot’s strength (…and to my knowledge), that it is used for climbing, is because it will not fail or slip past a rope delivery system, such as an ATC or a grigri.

Basically if you’re ass backwards & heading in the wrong direction, that knot may help stop your decent by not blowing past a safety measure.

It’s a standard figure 8 knot, but the end of the rope doubles back through the eight. This leaves the end of the 8 at the top of the knot & would look similar to this:

They’re not anything valuable. They look handmade & some of the pieces were outright ugly, but it worked.

To OP, completely understand you might not want jewelry made from a nazi knife, but maybe there’s an option to do something worthwhile while that melted metal, rather than just scrapping it?

If nothing else, you could encase a copy of mein kampf in the metal & have a fancy ass doorstop you can kick around.

Just a heads up, if you’re in the US, a lot of post offices have self serve kiosks away from the counter. You can use any envelope/packaging you like, as long as it fits on the scale at the kiosk.

Also, if you do decide to mail cash, fold it up inside another piece of paper. Maybe use two.

Idea being that some envelopes are translucent when held to the light, & cash is easy to spot. Folding it in paper will at least help with opacity.

And on a different note, you can legitimately use any packaging you like to mail something. It doesn’t have to be a blank envelope or packing box. You can literally slap an address & sufficient postage on a potato, & it will still reach its destination.

Kasa bulbs have a fade feature that lets you gradually fade up to x% over a given amount of time.

I really like using that feature to wake me up gradually as my alarm approaches.

I think you’re right about the damage. They definitely make a mess out of the leaves, but the leaves grow back & the actual tree, bush, or plant seems fine.

Is the Fall Webworm similar to Tent Moth Caterpillars?

Living in NC & we get tons of tent moth caterpillars every year.

They’re adorably destructive lil foliage decimators.
