I very much dislike season 2, so much so that I quit watching maybe a little over 2/3rds the way through. After the first series Nocturne was a huge let down.

When a moral panic happens, a lot of things get blown out of proportion. A good example was the panic relating to D&D and satanism. There was a huge panic sometime in the 50s or 60s about the police dealing with young thugs with concealed switch blades, which could be hidden, and then deployed one handed so fast a cop couldn’t draw his weapon fast enough. So this panic got a lot of laws drawn up to ban any switch blade.

Since then, the there are knives that skirt the law by not having a spring which force the blade open, instead a tension bar. There are still types are illegal to carry if a Cop would find out you have it, like “Out the front” switch knives.

The stupid part is, there are plenty of “one hand deployable” knives on the market that are 100% legal. But the laws never get revisited. In my state it’s illegal to have a out the front switch blade, yet a bunch of high end OTF knives are for sale at a sporting store. They just post a sign that says “Know your local laws”, which some how makes it okay to sell.

I used to use nothing but Intel every time I built a new gaming PC. My last build in early 2021, I went with AMD 6900, and I’ve been real happy with it. I had been planning on going back to Intel for my next build, but this has spooked the shit out of me.

I agree, my brain heavily dislikes “Ramblomatic” it’s real tough to say it smoothly, it’s that L at the end of Ramble that’s making it tough. My brain wants it to be “Rambo-matic”. But at least I know now Ramblomatic is the new Zero Punctuation!

I read that Prophecy spun off as an independent studio. Their write-up about Tribes 3 says you won’t have to unlock any weapons, only cost is 19.89 for the base game with more expensive premium editions and micro transaction cosmetics.

At least we won’t be grinding for weapon unlocks, or being pressured into buying new weapons for cash.

Don’t hurt me again, after Tribes Ascend and HiRez studios shitting all over that franchise, I don’t know if I could handle another mishandling of one of my favorite games of all time.

Yeah, that’s not great. It also puts all responsibility of content on the user, so if you post something offensive, they’re not going to be the ones blamed. But if you post some art that they can make money off of, they definitely want that. We live in a gross world.

I think I’ll do okay with actual typing, but sightless pressing of the arrow keys to move a cursor around, hold shift, and tap end to highlight a whole sentence, that’ll take a long time to retrain. I placed my order, so I guess in 2 weeks I’ll find out!

Ok, I’ve dug into each option! I think I’m leaning toward trying out the Ergodox EZ! My only hurdle know is, I love cherry mx speed silver switches after having used them for years, but the Ergodox EZ can’t have back lit keys and cherry mx speed silver switches. It looks like that might just be down to what Ergrodox has access too because cherry mx rgb speed switches definitely exist and can be purchased.

So I might buy a backlit Ergodox EZ and buy a set of cherry mx speed silvers and swap them. I’m still mildly concerned about getting used to the keyboard, but the idea I can just keep my old keyboard hooked up for work is reassuring. I do a lot of navigation and cursor/selection using arrow keys, hold shift, home, end etc and those muscle memory movements won’t work with the Ergodox EZ.

Thank you for the extra info! The non-uniform placement of the keys was my concern as well. I feel like it’d work well, but then have doubts as well. I have enough room to keep my standard corsair mechanical hooked up and in reach too in case it’s needed.

Do you use the Ergodox EZ for gaming? If so, how is it?

Reading into the ZSA Moonlander, it looks great, I think it’d be comfortable and easy to get used to for me. I see some reviews saying it has up to 16ms latency though, have you noticed any latency, do any gaming?

I appreciate all the great information! I’m looking into each keyboard suggested and seeing if I feel like it’ll work well for my use case. I’m wondering if as @hellweaver666@discuss.tchncs.de mentioned, just getting the left hand portion of the keyboard would be best. I work from home as well, and my corsair doesn’t bother me at all for typing while working, and I use the DEL, HOME, Page Up and Page Down, and End keys, and numerical pad constantly.
