  • A relay switch could work. You would put the car 12V and ground across the coil connections, the 12V on the NO connection, the panel on the NC connection, and the power pack on the C connection. Make sure you get a 12VDC relay.

Are you going to have the panel installed permanently on your car?

Definitely don’t connect a 24V source directly to your cars 12V system. There’s a good chance of frying something important. A fuse would not protect from overvoltage so don’t rely on those to protect components.

  • I lived in an area that was going to start strip mining for sand that was the right consistency for fracking. Plenty of conservatives were amongst the loudest opponents. There’s plenty of hypocracy, no need to exaggerate. Their reasons were not wanting to have so much heavy equipment on the roads and fear of silicosis, not opposing natural gas extraction.

  • For anyone who thinks this would be a good tradeoff, this would be the worst sleep of your life.

I’ve only had sleep paralysis a couple times and it was always because I was stressed about homework/work and my brain kept trying to work through the problems in my sleep. It is a terrible experience. Sleep is about way more than physical rest. Depriving your brain of good sleep will ruin your memory and make functioning during the day exceedingly difficult.

Plus, let’s look at what employers did in response to women entering the workforce. Has average household income doubled? No, pay has stagnated to the point of households needing two incomes to meet expenses. Don’t expect working through your sleep to mean a life of leisure in the day. You’re more likely to see wages fall to the point where everyone needs a day job plus a sleep job.

  • It really depends on what and how you play. If reaction time is important then you’ll feel more than see the difference in refresh rates. If none of your games require sub second reaction time accuracy, then it’s much more of a nice to have luxury than a game changer.

Also, frametime pacing matters a lot. If your system very consistently puts out 30 fps, you’ll have more accurate keypresses than if you normally get 50 and it gets hung on a few frames and it dips to 30fps. Your nervous system adapts pretty well to consistent delay, but it’s much more difficult to compensate for delay that varies a lot.

I don’t really play first person shooters so resolution matters more to me than framerate.

  • Blue switches are not a good choice for office use if the user shares a space with others or has video meetings. I find typing on a red switch to be just as fast and comfortable as on a blue switch. Brown is a good in-between.

Check out the Kechron C2 or Logitech G413.

I recommend getting a red switch from a retailer you know has good returns and see if she likes it as much as yours. Or maybe go to a best buy together and have her try out a couple different switches.
